Well, now, Ms. DLM (the CIO) makes about $5 Million a year plus LTIs, and she comes from Eli Lilly's IT group - Lilly IT is an outsourcing black-hole that has destroyed hundreds of promising IT careers - this approach has been hitting Amgen IT for years now: Amgen (and other biotechs like Genentech & Gilead) see IT as a cash-drain - so they lay off IT people willy-nilly to generate bonuses for the CIO based on sham 'cost-savings'.

Feel bad for the laid off Thousand Oaks folks who might now lose home equity if they sell their homes and move for jobs elsewhere ... good luck & god bless

Too crazy. I interviewed for an IT position @Amgen not only last year. When I confronted the hiring manager with Amgen's reputation for massive layoffs, he at first had no clue what I was talking about, then sheepishly said "Well, yeah ... we do kinda do that."

    Where is the gossip

No talk about GBS change or what DLM is doing or about the ~400 left to get laid off later this year.

Someone has to have an opionin, we're not all church mice here sitting the corner looking for the next bit of cheese to fall off a plate.

If you are in IT, suggest you have a plan B. IT in Amgen is not a core competence and anyone that thinks it is should stop kidding themselves.

Get out when you are in charge of your destiny and not wait for the inept VPs in charge make the decision for you.
