Wtf??? MERCK BENEFITS ARE SIMILAR TO WHAT I WOULD EXPECT WORKING FOR MCDONALD'S. How is this "comparable?" Give me my severance! I didn't sign up for this sh*t.

I was with Merck years ago and I think the health benefits they had back then blows these out of the water. This is the worst plan I have ever seen. We're paying more out of our paychecks to cover our healthcare. They don't cover shit, IMO.

You would think with the amount of employees Merck has that they would be able to leverage better benefits. This shit isn't worth the paper it's written on.

    Totally disappointed.

People working at Merck have seen their paycheck shrink year after year because of crappy raises and higher benefit costs. This has been ongoing for at least the past ten years...or since Vioxx was pulled. Do you really think Merck cares about their employees? Um, nope!

Just to clarify...what part of the benefits? The Affordable Care Act is what has caused all of these costs to change over the last 5 years. If you look closely in the packet Merck sent, it specifically says, they are trying to avoid becoming a "cadillac plan", as they are taxed at 40%.
If you are looking at total costs, we payed the same if not more at Cubist. These are monthly totals per paycheck at Merck, not semi-monthly as it shows in Cubist benefits. So you have to double the cost in the Cubist benefits package to compare.

Maybe I am missing something... 401K yes, it's lower.

Ultimately, the AFA will leave all Americans with insurance plans that more closely resemble ObamaCare. It would not surprise me in the least bit if Merck or any company for that matter just throws some money at employees and tells them to go shop on the exchange.

What are you talking about? Cubist does not have a $1000 deductible for family and then they start paying 80% and we pay 20%. With Cubist for office visits you paid a 25 dollar co-pay and that was it. There was no deductible. nothing. Our Healthcare here at Cubist was 20 times better. Im pissed at the ACA and Obama for passing such a lousy bill BUT Merck has plenty of money and they can afford to take care of their employees and I'd rather THEM pay for the cadillac plan then us spending a 1/4 of our bonus to cover healthcare. That's disposable income that takes away from my kids vacations, sporting tournaments and other things that are important to me and our family. Merck can choose to offer a better plan and they simply don't. Fuck Merck

You are worried about benefits when most of us will be loosing our jobs and the only benefit we will have is the unemployment line.

Privileged, my ass....Cobra is cheaper than this shit Merck is shoveling at us.

400 bucks out of my paycheck every month for my family and what do we get out of it? $1000 deductible and STILL only cover 80% and we pay 20%.

WTF am I paying for exactly?

    Good question.
The closer you get the more it smells.
The real question is: How likely are we to survive the culture & mgt. style in Merck?

Im not sticking around to find out what their Merck culture and management is like. If I see or hear one more "KPI fire drill", I am going to scream !

    Fuck that shit.
