So what's the real story with ACMI being phased out? First we heard end of this year but supported for five years and now I've heard as late as 2015-2020. We need the straight scoop to tell our customers.

My understanding is that ACMI manufacturing facilities are producing parts to support the product for five years as required by the FDA and then shutting down at the end of 2013.

There is no ACMI, they have been dying on the vine while Olympus sucks the life of what's left.

Screw Olympus and all their shady business practices. They bought ACMI & Gyrus illegally offshore from an investment banking outfit in Grand Cayman.

    Read article from Wikipedia.

Woodford alleged that his removal was related to several prior acquisitions he had been seeking answers to, particularly the US$2.2 billion deal in 2008 to acquire British medical equipment maker Gyrus ACMI Group. In the deal, US$687 million was paid to a middle-man as a fee – a sum which was equal to 31 percent of the purchase price, and which ranked as the highest ever M&A fee. The company initially responded, on 19 October, that "major differences had arisen between Mr. Woodford and other management regarding the direction and conduct of the company's business".

The company figured that it would illegally purchase this company, effectively getting rid of 1 of the 2 remaining competitors in Urology instrumentation. (the other being Karl Storz, which is a private firm)

Basically I heard that ACMI will be gone by 2016. They will repair parts until 2019.
What will most likely happen is that hospitals will get so sick of the back and forth that they will just go with the non corrupt entity known as Karl Storz.

Olympus is one big massive corrupt organization. On top of that look at the Accounting Scandal in Tokyo. Cooking the books for millions for like 20 years. Then the judges let the crooks in Japan off with a warning. Absolutely no prison time for ruining a company.

Charlie Goodwin or should I say Badwin and his company infidelities.

There really is no end to the corruption at Olympus.

The best decision I ever made was to move on to better pastures.

Don't be hating on Charlie Goodwin, he was just following orders.
Charlie is a pleasant person who even gave the peasants the time of day.

A true leader leads and challenges what others believe. The managers that are left are too old to care. It's so pathetic.

Totally disagree, we have managers that are amazing and a few that need to move on. I am fortunate to work for an awesome manager.

Awesome managers????? It used to mean something to become a manager at Olympus. It meant you earned your stripes! Now, they just put in place any warm body including marginal ET (device) reps who never even sold capital!! Couple of re-treads even got the gig! See, being a manager is no longer about being a "super sales rep" who drives revenue and customer satisfaction...no no its all about data, supposed coaching, checking every box while creating bs reports about how your going to hit all your "buckets" Sad really. O too big now for sales force autonomy, just conformity!!

I believe this is referencing the GI business. I feel strongly that the surgical managers do earn their stripes. My manager is unbelievable, I cannot say that fom every manager I have had but love who I currently work for.

    Why does it matter?
Olympus is a horrible company regardless
Of what happens to ACMI product lines.
