    CAFE PHARMA PICKERS!!

I hope everyone has been doing well and having a great summer. It definitely has been a hot one. SEC Media days just concluded about a week or so ago. You know what that means? Yes we are only a few short weeks away from the kick off to College Football!!

I would like to invite everyone here to make your weekly picks for some of the best Match Up's in College Football. I am really looking forward to an action packed regular season.

Please invite any of your other Cafe Pharma friend's to make their weekly picks. I look forward to seeing everyone in a few short weeks! ROLL TIDE!

I'll be there - hope everyone finds their way back under this new format. Meanwhile, here are some things to think about:

    1. Chicago Cubs outfielder Andre Dawson on being a role model:
"I wan' all dem kids to do what I do, to look up to me. I wan' all the kids to copulate me."

    2. New Orleans Saint RB George Rogers when asked about the upcoming season:
"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first.."

    3. Torrin Polk,University of Houston receiver, on his coach, John Jenkins:
"He treat us like mens. He let us wear earrings."

    4. Football commentator and former player Joe Theismann:
"Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."

    5. Bill Peterson, a Florida State football coach:
"You guys line up alphabetically by height..,"
And, "You guys pair up in groups of three, and then line up in a circle."

    6. Boxing promoter Dan Duva on Mike Tyson going to prison:
"Why would anyone expect him to come out smarter? He went to prison for three years, not Princeton ..."

    7. Lou Duva, veteran boxing trainer, on the Spartan training regimen of heavyweight Andrew Golota:
"He's a guy who gets up at six o'clock in the morning, regardless of what time it is."

    8. Chuck Nevitt , North Carolina State basketball player, explaining to Coach Jim
Valvano why he appeared nervous at practice:
"My sister's expecting a baby, and I don't know if I'm going to be an uncle or an aunt.

(I wonder if his IQ ever hit room temperature in January)

    9. Frank Layden, Utah Jazz president, on a former player:
"I asked him, 'Son, what is it with you? Is it ignorance or apathy?'
He said, 'Coach, I don't know and I don't care.'"

    10. In the words of NC State great Charles Shackelford:
"I can go to my left or right, I am amphibious."

When I was in college, the words, "My Trojans are looking good," had a whole different connotation! :)

I am in and hoping to have a better year than last - I need to make my picks early instead of trying to do so over a bloody mary on Saturday morning.

    Go Irish!

Tink, I had dinner and drinks with Delbert McClinton about 15 years ago and speaking of 'Trojans' (or rubbers as he called them) he mentioned the cover photo on his album, 'Genuine Cowhide' was a photo of a wallet carried for a long time with a Trojan in it. The high school and college kids in Ft Worth liked to keep a Trojan in their wallet. Over time, the outline would get worn into the wallet and was very visible. It was a status symbol back then. https://www.google.com/search?q=genuine+cowhide+delbert+mc+clinton&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-Address&rlz=1I7LEND&biw=1920&bih=897&tbm=isch&imgil=qmoCzwjahK4l0M%253A%253BLsOFmKdFGsoX1M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.willardswormholes.com%25252Farchives%25252F11896&source=iu&pf=m&fir=qmoCzwjahK4l0M%253A%252CLsOFmKdFGsoX1M%252C_&usg=__PcTYJHpdGQbj2_P9XOW0Crbvj78%3D&ved=0CEMQyjdqFQoTCJqA9eaH28cCFUajiAodsekHZw&ei=OFfoVZqEDMbGogSx05-4Bg#imgrc=I4bc-AXnxrA9KM%3A&usg=__PcTYJHpdGQbj2_P9XOW0Crbvj78%3D

Vag knows everyone cool LOL. Delbert is one of the best. Saw him live in Fort Worth at Billy Bob's the first year I moved here and his band was awesome. In fact "Every time I Roll" is the first song I ever told my new Wife reminded me of us.

I must admit though, that Joe Bonamassa is the New "MAN!" He is exploding in popularity and for good reason.

Thanks Libs. I don't really know Delbert, one of my best buds played bass with him for 4 years and during that time, I attended a concert in Reno, was with him eventually backstage, we all ended up eating dinner together and he told me (and my then wife) that story. I will say this - he is actually a very funny and very nice guy with a very cool wife. My favorite is this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaZPkRRwyGc
