Rumor has it that nothing beats Sientra. True? Isn't Mentor about to release the best silicone gel ever??

Sientra is an okay product, but it is limited and they use old silicone tech. They do not have the dollars, reps or reputation to compete. Not to mention that their gel share worldwide is roughly 3%. In the country they are produced they are beat by Mentor and Allergan all day long.

My friend just got Sientra implants and loves them. Her surgeon said they are the next generation gel and the gel holds up better and ripples less. She looks amazing and they are very soft- I think they cost more than Mentor though.

Realizing that there are a lot of factors to determine these vague questions but was curious about how Sientra is received in the market? Is the comp plan realistic and how is the company culture?

    Thanks

I'm not out in the field, but culture in HQ is awesome. Benefits are good and pretty much in line with a recent start-up, that said they aren't as good as Mentor or Allergan.

I am looking for the best company to work for and I hear Allergan is it...Now I'm reading Sientra? I have heard rumblings that Mentor is getting an injectable human collagen and that will blow the lid off the filler market and mean more jobs for Reps! It would also mean Sientra would not become #2 over Mentor. Any thoughts?

Former Allergan employees will tell you the benefits are fantastic but the culture is absolutely the worst thing about the place.

Considering a position with Sientra. can someone give me some competitive insight as to why the Sientra product line is considered subpar as compared to Allergan and Mentor? would love some clinical specifics.

You've got to understand, clinical data is like kryptonite in the hands of Mentor reps. Even they are smart enough to know you can't win bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Sientra is a smaller company so on average the pay/benefits won't be as good. The stock option aspect is gone since IPO but I expect whatever there is made available to future employees will be better than mentor since I'd expect the stock to rise as they take market share. In terms of being a sales rep they stole (although they won the lawsuit) a lot of their competitors sales force so I guess that tells you something....many of the people they wanted were willing to jump on board. That was pre IPO though so they were probably looking at stock options to lure them.
In terms of product they have a better implant. They have reduced contracture rates, less implant ruptures. That's it. But that's huge. Now their competitors have massive amounts of money so maybe they can come up with something better but I doubt it. I'd expect them, if I was a betting man, to take a lot of the market once they get their distribution/sales force out in scale. Surgeons are hard to change...I know, i am one, but if you have a superior product which Sientra does right now they will slowly but surely come onboard. In the future they'll either stay ahead and dominate, get bought out by their two competitors or less likely get beat by a better product down the line. They hit a home run once but if a better product comes along before they start cranking out cash they won't have the money to catch up.
    That's it.
Best product, competition that's not going to be beat very easily for long.
