Just wondering if there's any worry of a generic competitor coming on the market for this, as the molecule patent expires December 2010. Also, what's up with the price? Aren't the competitors, Singulair and Accolate, about $120 per month? Zyflo CR is $650.

Zyflo is by far the worst & most overpriced shitty product ever. Should have been called shitflo.

Companies like Cornerstone don't have the patient's expense in mind. They thrive only because they overprice products so when they actually go through, the patient is screwed but the company makes alot more than if it were reasonably or competitively priced. Think about this: You have one percent marketshare. If each prescription filled were reasonably or competitively priced you would have very little profit. But if you play the retail game with the intent on making money without regard for affordibility, you overprice to make up for lack of volume.

As for the patent expiration for Zyflo. ?. Really? I bet Cornerstone is thinking they can call their brand a generic and mark it up 15%. You'll be selling generic Zyflo to Docs soon!

Those "veterans" are people who have worked in big pharma in the past who were able to knock the calls out and be home by 2. I'm sure you remember the "3 Ts" - Tuesday through Thursday, Ten to Two. Why do you think pharma reps get such a bad rep? For years the "veterans" would flaunt how little they worked and how much they got paid. Now we're paying for it. So a big thank you to the pharma "veterans". And no, I'm not talking about all people here who have big pharma experience, just the ones who are complaining the loudest because it's different from how it used to be.

However this so called management team is the BIGGEST micromanagers ever. No matter if I work 12 hours a day our ASD is just looking at our 1st & last sig in reference to what time, and they tell us that it not about getting sigs. Well it sure looks like that to me and alot of other reps.

The Zyflo patent might expire but the Zyflo CR patent will not for awhile. As for "competitors", Singulair and Accolate, Zyflo is usually used when those fail because Zyflo has a completely different moa.

I actually saw my first generic switch yesterday. Did anyone else see this yet?

The second patent on Zyflo CR is expiring in June. I did see something that gave me the impression there might be a 3rd patent that doesn't expire until September 2013. (I hope that is not the case)
I am now paying $250 per month out of pocket and this is the only leuketriene blocker that has worked for me. I lost my job last year and could really use a break in at least one area of my life. Now, how many people use it? Will there even be a market for a generic?

I am SO hoping for a generic CHEAPER version soon. If I don't take it my polyps will surely come back and I have already had sinus surgery twice.

Honestly, you are fortunate that you are are getting insurance coverage for an unapproved use of the drug. Usually that isn't possible.

  15. Can anyone tell me what the retail prices have been for zyflo cr over the last 5 years. It seems to me the price went from about 660 for 90 days to close to $6000 for 90 days in 2013. In fact my insurance company has dropped it from its formulary and it is the only drug on the market that prevents all 5 leukotrienes. Singular and Accolade only hit the 4th leukotriene.

So is there an answer to why no generic still? Is it that so few patients want it, it's not worth it to make a generic? Wouldn't more people take it and more doctors prescribe it if it wasn't nearly $4000 a bottle?

What's your bra size? I'm thinking you are one of the reps with big tits JZ and his sidekick J fawn over and make sex-ladden remarks about, and you laugh like they are so cute. I'm sure you're working, but your tits are keeping you there, like it or not.
