What do you think about Lou's message about a Japanese company looking to come out with a generic Livalo next year?

Is anyone concerned that we may lose our jobs?

Not worried about 2016.... but really does any pharma position have true job security?

    From drugs.com
    http://www.drugs.com/availability/generic-livalo.html

Looks like part of the patent expires in December 2016

    From the Sawai website:
    http://www.sawai.co.jp/en/operation/research/

    Overseas Business Development
Our previous medium-term business plan and new plan target overseas business development, particularly in the U.S. The U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) accepted the Abbreviated New Drug Application for PITAVASTATIN tablets we submitted in fiscal 2014. We are strengthening our in-house development systems to submit applications for our second and third products in the U.S., which is the world’s largest pharmaceuticals market.

It would be helpful to understand how imminent this threat is and will we have something else in our bags to keep the sales force employed.

Why is Kowa saying otherwise?? I thought patent ended in 2018. I'm worried.

You should be. Look at all the people who have left this year at the upper level. The writing is on the wall and Lou is just trying to prevent a mass exidious.

Don't you remember the slide deck that Ben showed us at the previous POA of his long term plan he had for Kowa? Many different Diabetes drugs in the pipeline as well as he is looking to expand the Salesforce. I believe in the long term success of Kowa.

ok raw-raw! Where have you been the past few years! They are/were the same slide deck from previous years, the only change was the dates were move backed. Keep drinking the kool-aid...

I'd like to believe what Ben showed was true but generic companies in the past have found loopholes to go through with branded drugs and have impacted sales forces in a negative way. I'm not sure if I want to wait and see what's going to happen.

1 drug in PIII testing. BTW, it's another effing fibrate... In Japan... And a serious challenge for our only true product (with limited to no MC coverage).

Are you still really asking questions about Ben's stupid slide deck (that has only changed by way of dates being pushed back)? Be lucky you're currently employed while you look for a better gig.

Given the new restrictions on fibrates, I'm not sure what a pimafibrate is going to do in the US marketplace . So are we all going to sell knee braces and coffee? Some real communication is in order now that we have been informed that the sky is falling .

Knee braces and coffee would be an easier sell than Livalo anyway.
