SS has a master plan, critical to which is setting the pace and mental conditioning needed to deal with the significant change coming. We have likely not seen the end of high profile "opportunities outside Novartis" surprises or journeys down the hierarchy. A "flatter" organization demands it. The N-1 and N-2 plan is to dance to the associated new groove, offering everyone a lesson in common sense career survival. Besides, much of what SS says makes sense.
