Tempe service depot needs time to refurb cpms before dumping. Outsourcing repairs now.

    how bad is it?

BD sold off manufacturing to QAL (www.qalmedical.com) and tied OBOS down with a 5 year service contract. Manufacture direct to patient made OB unique.

1 knee brace to compete with

NMES/TENS- will not be covered - check Medicare

Relationships?? Who needs seasoned sales reps, not OBOS.

ugly stepchild - how much longer will daddy carry you

Well this is my first career out of college and I have been a rep for 12 months. I have made close to 500,000 for our small distributorship and am somewhere around 50k all said and done. We run around town getting orders from the smaller fish while more experienced reps work on the people they have grown close to over the years. Our managers still claim that they are their best customers (inventory) and snipe comments to reps working 6 days a week, taking calls after 6 everynight, not getting home from work until 7 managing relationships, doing fittings for bracing, checking to see that measurements, Rx, and Clinical Notes are submitted, helping people adjust their braces because "its uncomfortable around my Ulcers"....yeah dude, you have ulcers.. WE deal with the garbage that sales managers have forgotten about.. OH, and SORRY but working 2 days a week is a joke. No one that can call themselves a sales representative works 2 days a week and if they are watching youtube vids, don't you think someone(other reps and staff) may be a little pissed about it. I think whats wrong with this guy is he's bias because he's unemployed and blames shitty reps for it. Maybe a little encouragement or a "good job" once and a while would have made your reps work harder for you. Maybe a small Christmas bonus would suffice(As in $50). Managers today have forgotten what it was like to be establishing a book of business and "getting off" from the simple referral from the local OT/PT. In my opinion, if you are in sales you should have a strong eat what you kill mentality but the problem is, without encouragement, presumably younger people in this industry develop a dissonance towards asshole managers like the ones they had in college. Hiring people for 30k less is a good idea with the right mind set. If you look at them like they are overpaid and worthless, they will feel that way. The young ones will bust their ass especially if they see a good paycheck. Gen Y loves money and loves empowerment, so give it to them when they deserve it and you will become rich... treat them like idiots, and they will destroy you, after all they are usually the face of your territory/company. Hope this RSM will realize why he is in the position he is in. Cynic.

I wish to god I had know about surgical hardware rep jobs a long time ago . Instead of spending 4 years getting a BSN then working in an ICU for several years before becoming a CRNA.

I would never have used my GI bill for undergrad and HPSP for grad school. I never saw a Stryker or Medtronic rep in either Afghanistan or Iraq.

I would have gotten a degree in PE or something, joined a fraternity, learned to golf and discuss sports ad nauseum.

They stand in the OR being unctuous to the surgeon entering the parts used on an iPad , making more than I do by a long shot. All I do is keep the patient alive during a 12 hour scoliosis correction procedure.

How overpriced are those screws and rods to pay a guy six figures to stand around with a laser pointer?
