You wish that's why Kaiser SF is replacing the 840's with Hamiltons first of the new year. Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. Sore Losers

I heard the same thing about the EVQ on the 980. That it is good for up to six uses, but that means every use. Plus I heard it's not a cheap disposable either. Why does the 980 use a external flow sensor? Is it like the HT70? With all the recalls, the 980 seems sketchy. The FDA recall for neo mode, not alarming when oxygen was disconnected, compressor issues, blank monito, etc. It seems rushed to market.

just heard Kaiser went with Hamilton. Processing the exhalation assy. and flow sensor after every use and replacing expensive flow sensor after 25 cycles is a major issue. Time to update resume.:(

Why do you have to process this ? Doesn't the heated exhalation valve protect the flow sensor?

What external flow sensor? The flow sensor is internal like the 840 isn't it?

the 980 uses external flow sensor for neo. If you ever can get neo released.

    • OK. The post I responded to made it seem like an external flow sensor was used for all patientss hence my coonfusion. I would think anyone using a neo vent these days with VG wwuld use an external flow sensor.

Good old infrasonics. Killed by PB due to FDA consent decree. That was the good old days when we were printing $$ selling vents. Maybe PB still has access to the old flow sensor technology from the infant star?

According to the 980 users manual you must remove and use a six step process to clean the exhalation valve and assy. after every patient use and replace the flow sensor every 25 cleaning cycles. I understand the flow sensor is approx. $700.00 each to replace.

What kind of flow sensor technology is it? Sounds expensive compared to Dragger and Hamilton. What went wrong in development? Hamilton was a bad joke that became reality

A bad joke because no one took them seriously? Anyone that gives these guys a chance will realize Hamilton is doing some very innovative things. This isn't the veolar. Wake up and start studying how these guys are approaching mechanical ventilation......

Not Veolar but it's Gallileo inside (on steroids) with a superior GUI compared to the 980. These Swiss guys are so smart compared to the losers in Carlsbad.

Looks like Covidien is laying off more Field Service this week. Must be hurting since they didn't get that KP sale.

Doesn't the flow sensor on the Hamilton vents just fail on every patient?

How come? Obviously it did not in KP trials.
