So I could be at KOP working today, but wait, I can't work because the company is so generous, they closed for the week. Told us to either take PTO or PH so we can all have an extended holiday break. Wait, other top bio - pharma companies have that week off already and the employees do NOT have to take forced days. Aren't we one of the top companies? No, we are not. Either give us the extra days off or go back to what we had. I should not be forced to take a combination of either personal or vacation days to have these days off. I do not work for Walmart. Oh but wait, I forgot, check the other posts on health care costs to employees. That policy changed too. I do work for Walmart. Thanks Paul. Stock going up and employees package going down. I guess I will go to the mall today. KOP has such a nice mall. KOP employees are a great bunch of people. It is the entire upper management that must go. Thank god I only have a few short years left for retirement.

Just to be clear to anyone reading this post, there were a total of three days of mandatory PTO during the week between Christmas and New Years that HQ employees were asked to take. The organization actually gifted back one of those days so employees were only asked to use 2 days of their PTO/Vacation time for the year. This decision was not made lightly. A lot of consideration was given to the closure and the fact is that an overwhelming majority of people have used their PTO to take this week off historically anyway. In exchange, everyone got an extended week off which made this an incredibly relaxing holiday. No emails, no meetings, no expectations. Just plain old relaxing time off. So, while the OP is painfully unhappy about this closure, I, for one, am very pleased with it and will gladly exchange 2 PTO days anytime for this kind of pure vacation with family and friends.

Regarding the hike in insurance, yup, I experienced a significant hike as well......just like many people in America. Not thrilled about this. Healthcare is very expensive. Despite the hike, as employees, we still have a very reasonable plan relative to many others across a variety of industries. Just ask your friends what their contributions are and what type of plan they get in exchange. I consider myself quite lucky to have great health insurance.

And to the folks who are going to flame this reply, including the dissatisfied OP, I am not in leadership and had no influence in any of these decisions, so am not defending these actions as a member of leadership. I am simply a realistic employee who has worked other places and can truly appreciate what I have at CSL.

I left KoP in 2016. The holiday plan was such a sad, half-assed attempt to do something without increasing costs. Im glad i left, csl is a pharma that does not invest in their employees, which is a shame because a lot of good people work there.
