It makes me shake my head when I see and hear otherwise smart people talk about "Cloud" as the future. The cloud is nothing more than outsourcing, paying a company to run and manage something for you, and it's ALWAYS more expensive, MUCH more expensive than running it yourself.

If you look at what it costs to run a single windows server in the Amazon cloud 24x7 365, it's factors more expensive than running it locally, and you still need someone to administer and fix it when there are issues. Cloud is a soft and fuzzy name for turning your kingdom over to a third party so they can bend you over once their have you trapped and the first sweetheart contract is over.

I would go as far as to say this is a new way of pushing redistribution of wealth between companies, with the Board of Directors and CEO's OK. Usually 15 minutes prior to an outsourcing deal a board member is elected to their board from the outsourcing company, it's almost criminal.

And as usual, people are flying back and forth on business class between the Hubs like there is no tomorrow....so much money wasted.

bonehead. prague is the insourcing. it would not exist if CG didnt take the risk to have the board fund Riverview.

Prague was a method of clearing out experienced and expensive employees from European countries that actually protect the employment of their citizens.

If Prague was about insourcing we would have hired people with experience and not a mob of college kids that reject the orders of headquarters on a regular basis and contribute nothing to the top or bottom line of the balance sheet.

I totally agre, especially with the 2nd paragraph. There is a lot of disobedient delinquents who work there and they let it fly because the US is too afraid to lose resources. Sad state

The perpetual mediocrity is well-deserved. Bravo Merck.
