ps-It was not a dead end for me (if you read my posts) since I moved to a very small company that had TWO drugs and NO Managed Care Division. I started it with my boss!
Do you think I would move for a mere typical 10% comp. increase which reps got in those days?? Yes, reps got on ave. 10% moving. (those days are gone!) They asked how much I was making @ GSK, and my response was, "What value do you think I can bring to you?" Then I was asked if I could get in to an account and see the CEO. It was a small company, but had formulary responsibility for Medicaid contracted with 34 states. Can you say Paxil prerferred status?! This account was founded by a personal friend of mine who was in MC @ GSK! I was at the Detroit airport, and said, "Can I call him right now and we can conference him in?" (I had just had dinner in his home with his wife a month b4!!) They smiled and said, "No need, welcome aboard." Next was from me--"Oh, excuse me we haven't finalized compensation." It is called "The art of the deal." I got about a 35-40K increase. I hear they now ask for your W-2!!! hahahaha. I feel like it was a great dream come true, and come back with--"it was a dream Sparky, you are lying, it could not happen like that etc." Ask L. Tyler who left a few years ago. He was a director. Ask Ed Korenkovich another director. I worked for both.
