Recent presentations at Cardiology Conference led to speculation about where Abbott is heading with Stents etc. One person familiar with top level Cardiologists spoke with me and said that the doctors want BVS to succeed. However, they're really only interested in doing another multimillion dollars study and riding Abbott like a Donkey into the sunset. What was also discussed was Miles White. And the fact that Abbott is at heart a drug company. It is not beyond speculation that 1) BVS will have a long road to hoe and the timeline is disastrous for Abbott at present. With this in mind, the drug side of Abbott can write off this whole experiment with the stroke from Miles..... Xience is pretty dam good. When i need one, thats what ill get and be happy.... Additionally, it was noted that Spectranetics might be in the target sights. This would be additive for Abbott's PTA biz..... and give them access to atherectomy as well as drug balloons and AngioSculpts. LMK your thoughts.....
