1/2 of NBU won't like Xiidra Bonus Plan

1/2 of NBU will not be getting much of a bonus when it comes to the co promote of Xiidra... the other half has the potential to make some decent cash. Based on what territory you were given and which doctors you will be calling on there is a huge divide among reps in income potential. A rep who was given 10 to 15 docs to call on in a small market has no chance to make the same kind of money as the rep with over 20 docs in a high volume market. This has been the dilemma in rolling out the comp plan. They realize they are setting up winners and losers with this co promote and are trying to figure out ways to make it more even/fair. During meetings discussing the comp plan it was a serious concern that the reps with little to no potential to make extra money are going to be upset and it will cause a divide and be demoralizing to those individuals watching their counterparts make a lot of money simply because of the territory/docs they were given... they are also still figuring out if NBU reps will receive a Xiidra bonus if they are not atleast 1 script over 100% with Vyvanse no matter how well or how much Xiidra targets grow through their efforts alongside their obu counterparts... Latest meetings are leaning more away from this idea because again leadership is concerned of rep outrage of not being paid for their efforts... they just don't want Vyvanse numbers to drop during the co promote and feel this no pay for those under 100% may keep that from happening... you will have to wait and see what the final comp plan is but I wanted to share that update

NBU is lucky to be getting any extra money... We had these scripts coming in with or WITHOUT you... be grateful if you get an extra dollar in your bonus because we didnt really need you. Drop your sample, get your signature, and get out of my offices

They better be concerned... if I am penalized and don't have the same opportunity to make money just because I live in a small market and don't have 25 doctors I'm going to be furious.... lawsuit for pay discrimination

Leadership needs to just roll this out and stop trying to hold the bad news for a Friday afternoon dump just like our corrupt politicians do.... this is embarrassing even for them... we r making calls on docs and we r not sure how we will be paid... very sad even for ps kk and kc Shires 3 stooges

Small market is code for "no coverage"

When will these morons learn a large market only gets you so far unless you have coverage? How about looking at markets with highest access potential and then give them a goal that means something instead of ratcheting everything to the middle because they don't want to do the work?

Doesn't sound like I am thinking it is going to be... where are you getting this info? They have to do some type of bonus based on growth in market to make it fair for all reps throughout the country.

That's funny. They don't have to do anything to pay you for growth in your market share or your volume. Just ask the NBU.

You obviously are new to Shire.... a comp plan to our leaders doesn't have to make common sense or be fair. Trust me their bonuses are big either way

I'm just pissed that more reps will now have Ophthalmology experience on their resume. It will make it very hard when we are trying to jump ship and go to another eye care company. Damn.

Awe, that's cute. So naive... I hope you keep your optimistic views. You're going to need them.

If they make us hit over 100% with Vyvanse to collect a Xiidra bonus we need to riot... u know the leadership crooks will cook up the numbers like they have been the last several quarters so they won't have to pay a huge number of us.

OBU rep here. Here's the plan - you do your best to get to 100% on Vyvanse (easier said than done, I know). I'll do my best with Xiidra and help you make any extra bonus possible (you can even take the credit if you want if it helps you, I really don't care). The Xiidra bonus won't help you with PC rankings but at least it will hopefully add some extra $$ to your pocket. I'm sure I've made money off the backs of counterparts before. Time for me to pay it back.

It sure seems when things are going well, there's a lot of praise at the top and some recognition to the reps that are doing well. But when things are going poorly, it's ONLY the reps' fault.

Real leadership is humble enough to admit mistakes & hold themselves accountable PUBLICLY. It is not a sign of weakness, but strength and it goes a long way with the underlings to hear leaders admit their faults in ANY organization.

I'm NBU and we haven't heard anything yet... I'd love to know since we were supposed to start selling it a week ago. From what we've been told we will find out at our meetings next week.

The plan is in order for your Xiidra bonus of $1000 to kick in, the OBU has to hit 100%. That plan may or may not happen. The OBU goal was based on a very high first 41/2 month attainment. The OBU reps are 1 against 5 Allergan reps. Allergan is giving a free 3 month to patients to combat the 1 month of Xiidra. Xiidra has no insurance coverage for anyone over 65 and the product is mostly age related. In general the big writers treat mostly geriatric patients. Also, nearly every Xiidra script requires a prior authorization and proof the patient failed on a variety of tears as well as Restasis. There are a lot of factors at play.
The NBU is forced to sample in a market where a sample destroys a script. They sent the NBU all those samples but sent none to the OBU, the OBU understands sampling this market, the NBU doesn't. They are requiring the NBU to call on accounts that the OBU is required to see weekly. This is dry eye, not surgical. The NBU is calling on specialists with no training on a product, the marketplace, or the competitive market, making them look and feel unprepared, unprofessional, and a bit stupid. The OBU reps are battling pharmacies, PAs and Ask Iiris instead of selling. The OBU reps are being forced to present patient profiles to high prescribing writers, a marketing tactic others gave up a decade ago. The OBU reps are fumbling around on iPad presentations instead of having a selling conversation.
And all of us are spending way to much time on web-ex calls, conference calls, training calls, regional calls, point person calls, and webinars.
    What's your compensation? Good luck.
