Yes, anyone would be smart to double dip!
I also believe "the ride" is far from over! PP will be here for much longer, and opportunities to dip should also be available. Whether you choose, pharma, home health, hospice, medical, hardware, substitute teaching, your choices are many!
And accept our Degenerate friend! Every so often he "goes off" his meds, and he begins to use our board to wildly rant and rave about why dipping is so bad. Sometimes he attacks dipping, other time he offers nonesense to replace conventional dipping that many of us benefit from! Remember, he truly despises double dipping! Fortunately, his posts are easily recognizable, and few accept the nonesense he writes! But he is OUR Degenerate!
I enjoy the benefits of double dipping (financial) and will continue to double dip.

Degenerate, why do you even care is someone double dips? Instead of spending time dreaming up creative ways to bash double dippers, why don't you spend that time looking for a second job? Try it for a while, then let us know what you think about double dipping.

    Yes, you are correct.
But remember, we are dealing with a Degenerate. He is barely capable of functioning every day, much less double dipping. He is incapable of double dipping because of his limited mental acuity.
I think the best thing to do is to allow him to function in his own existence without pushing him too far. It is most important that he remains on his meds,- at all times!

For those who may be considering double dipping, I want to let you know I have attended 2 NSM's, for 2 different companies in the last 3 weeks.
Working at PP and dipping is a relatively easy task to pull off! Working a "schedule" is key! And there is still so much out there from which to choose!
I enjoy the benefits of double dipping (financial) and I will continue to double dip.

You don't like the Dipper answering his own thread, so I will answer it. I have my second national meeting next week, and have been doing double national meetings for 11 years. While double dipping is not for everyone, why knock those that do it? What we do does not affect you in any way.

    Good for You!
My goal has always been to express my view that double dipping is quite simple to "pull off".
And no, it's not for everyone. I don't see anyone who knocks it with any degree of intellegence! And it's relatively safe to do!
Even if you try to get fired, you'll still have your other job!! Good luck at your other NSM next week! Now I have attended 6 NSM's while working for PP and my other pharma company. Never been a problem!
I enjoy the benefits of double dipping (financial) and will continue to double dip.

Good for you. I'm glad things seem to be working out nicely for you now!
If the school likes what you've done when you had taught, you're a "cinch" to get asked again to teach! You should definitely get called again!
Of course there are other schools, and perhaps you even have another School District you may want to register with.
And if you decide substitute teaching is not what you want to do, there are so many other opportunities available for which to dip! The decision is always yours to make!

Kind of ironic, but in our Monday 1 on 1 calls with my manager with my other pharma company, he asked if I would be interested in applying for asst. manager job! Asst manager is a position they have in each region. I would help out the manager and work with newer reps to help train. There would be a salary "bump".
Unfortunately, I had to turn down the possible offer because of course, I double dip here at Purdue!! I would rather NOT try to perform additional duty for either pharma company! I'm content double dipping as a rep. for both pharma companies! I don't want to possibly mess- up a good thing!
But I thought it was interesting, and shows how far dipping can possibly go! At PP, and with the use of my company car, it's a really "sweet" deal just being a rep for both companies at the same time!

Being a manager should not stop you from double dipping. I have known Purdue managers that double dipped. I ran into a couple of them with my double dip company. Their double dip company was co-promoting our product.

I really have no desire to be a manager at my other pharma company, especially having 2 pharma jobs.
And the offer to apply was for an "Assistant" position to my manager. It was NOT a manager position.
We have those at my other company; mainly doing paper work, scheduling, and working with any new reps.
For over 7 years now, I have worked successfully for PP, and my other pharma company, which I much prefer over PP! But I like it when my PP check hits my checking acct! And I like being paid twice for gas, since only PP offers a company car! My PP company car is listed as my personal car for my other pharma job. This works out "beautifully" income wise!
I receive a car allowance, and my gas is paid for. Often times I get 2 gas receipts, one for PP and one for my other pharma job. My car allowance each month is pure income, since I spend nothing to ever fix- up, or even just wash my PP car! Oil changes, etc. are always on PP, as is insurance!!
I just work for 2 different companies, and use the same car! My PP car!
I enjoy the benefits of double dipping (financial) and will continue to double dip.

I have no desire to be a manager, either. I manage my two jobs. They key to being successful in double dipping is to be in the field as much as possible - not being behind a desk or riding with someone. To me, being a manager is too much exposure.

The key to double dipping is for each company to "BELIEVE" you are in the field as much as possible!
Today I am making NO calls for either company! I'm going to drive around, making sure I put mileage on my PP car.
Next week my manager from my other pharma job is coming in to town from Atlanta. It's fine, and he hasn't worked with me in almost a year!

Late yesterday afternoon I took my manager from my other pharma company to the airport for his trip back home to Atlanta. He worked with me for about 2 1/2 days. It worked out well. I won't work with him again until close to Thanksgiving! I'll see him again in June for our 3rd quarter sales meeting!
I had my calls set- up before he arrived. I've been with this other pharma company now for over 7 years., and it's left up to the manager, if and when he wants to work with you. This is great! I have the BEST two dipping jobs! And my PP car, what a bonus!!
Each morning when I wake- up, I KNOW that double dipping is the right thing to do for me! There's nothing like the feeling when 2 paycheck's hit my bank!
I enjoy the benefits of double dipping (financial) and will continue to double dip.

You are so right, Dipper. I read many posts about how dissatisfied reps are with their Purdue bonus. For me, the paycheck is the bonus!.

Yes, obviously if you double dip, 2 paychecks are what makes your income improve! Bonuses do help!
And don't forget about being paid for your company car useage! Your PP car is regarded as your personal car while working for another company. Using PP gas, while pocketing car allowance from your other job! And a duplicate gas receipt (you must ask the clerk for a second receipt) is a large "boost" to your overall income! I submit this second "other" receipt on my other company expense report! Each tank of gas is paid for twice, and I benefit from one of the fill- ups!
If you should have 2 company cars, let a family member use one, or "lease" one out to a close friend. Don't charge your friend too much, but "pocket" the cash!! Keep switching around your use of each company car. This way both company cars get some mileage put on them.

You seem to have it all figurd out. I have decided to try to go to one of those lunches at an assisted living place. I want to network there and get an interview with a home care co. This is what you said is good to do right?
Now I am sure I want to double dip, so if it all fails, I will sign up to substitute teach.

Good for you! I'm pleased you have seen the benefits of double dipping, and what peace of mind dipping can bring!
It's always a good idea to attend a breakfast or lunch at a Senior Living Facility. You will be welcomed there, and I urge you to be honest about finding a job in Homecare. Of course, do not mention anything about your current employment at PP.
Also, don't forget to check out the Discharge Planning Dept. at a good sized hospital. This can be rewarding, and networking at both places can be most helpful in your search for a dipping job! Discharge Planning nurses are often very helpful in assisting you in your search! Bring a box of donuts when you sign- up for the breakfast! These nurses can be your friend!
I wish you much success!! Let us know how the interview process goes!

    Dipper,
Thanks so much. Ill try to find a sr living place and ask if I can attend a networking event they will have.
Or ill go to one at a hosp. I have a very large hospital in my territory that should have a networking breskfast. Ill introduce myself to the disch planning dept. nurses there.
