Abbott was involved with Perdue in pushing this drug and this has escaped notice until recently. We were a crucial partner in the aggressive and misleading and selling of OxyContin during its first decade on the market. Theres internal Abbott and Purdue memos, as well as sales documents and marketing materials that show that Abbott sales reps were instructed to downplay the threat of addiction with OxyContin and make other claims to doctors that had no scientific basis. The sales reps from the two companies closely coordinated their efforts, met regularly to strategize, and shared marketing materials. Getting Abbott’s help was so important to Purdue that it agreed to indemnify us from any legal costs that might arise from the selling of the drug. It was a provision that ended up saving us MILLIONS of dollars, and also kept the company out of the headlines as Purdue was forced to pay huge fines and settlements from the illegal marketing of OxyContin.

Great Job Eichhorn ! Your "Royal Court" caused this epidemic along with the greedy Docs who wrote the RXs

There is significant evidence that Abbott Labs engaged in specific activities that caused the public-health crisis that ravages states, and innocent family's. Yes, Abbott was a major player in the current opioid crisis Besides the issues I addressed above about Abbotts "Royal Court"
There was also the fact OxyContin was marketed as relieving pain for 12 hours, we knew that the drug wore off before that time period. The prescribers new that too.
Since the drug didn’t last as long as promised, some patients suffered withdrawal, which led them to become addicted. Purdue recently responded that OxyContin had been approved by the FDA as a 12-hour drug (which is true.) Trump even used this epedimic successfully as one of his winning platforms. There is current litigation against Purdue, Teva and JNJ. Why not include Abbott who also trivialize the risks of opioids while overstating the benefits of using them for chronic pain ?
Make Miles White testify under oath. Make high subscribers testify and make FDA testify. ALL are at fault !!!

400 Charged in BILLION-Dollar Opioid Fraud ‘Crackdown’ (VIDEO)

Thursday, the Department of Justice declared charges against 400-plus individuals in connection to a massive “crackdown” related to medical fraud in connection to the nation’s worsening opioid epidemic.

The investigation was centered on doctors who were prescribing unnecessary opioids, as well as medical facilities that were “[preying] on addicts” to fork over cash for treatments that worsened their state, according to authorities.

“Some doctors wrote out more prescriptions for controlled substances in one month than entire hospitals were writing,”

Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe told reporters. “To opioid addicts, these prescriptions escalate their dependence on drugs. They are a death sentence, plain and simple.”

The scams resulted in more than $1 billion in false billing uncovered in what Attorney General Jeff Sessions called “the largest health care fraud takedown operation in American history.” Much of that came out of the government’s pocket by illegally billing Medicare and Medicaid.

Among those charged were a fake Florida rehab facility that is alleged to have used gift cards and strip club visits to recruit addicts, and a Houston doctor who sold thousands of opioid prescriptions for cash.

From what I understand, the co-marketing deal with Purdue at least partially shielded Abbott from civil liability but the agreement can not shield Abbott personnel from criminal liability.

Yes, AbbVie's leaders must be getting nervous given their roles at Abbott back then.
