Why don't lidocaine patches have more indications?

I'm trying to assist a Medicare pt with lower back pain, but hit roadblocks with the Prior Auth process. Wouldn't it be easier if it was actually approved to relieve pain and not merely PHN?

 

Just fill in the form for them. And while you are at it, make some marketing materials that describe how your Medicare patient has all their lower-back pain cured by Lidocaine.

 

the drug was only accepted to market as an orphan drug for PHN. No further studies were done.
