Honestly, and unfortunately, this would not surprise me one bit.

And wouldn't be surprised if layoffs in June. EVERYONE is predicting it.

Layoffs may be prerequisite to selling to Horizon - Clean house a bit, then get best price possible - I wonder how the conference call will be May 9th

No brainer there. Current sales force is super inefficient. 450 people in this company either in a sales role or supporting the sales staff. That comes to about 14 Nucynta scripts per employee per week. I would bet a good part of that is selling itself as not everyone wants to become an Oxy and Heroin addict. Some of the sales repts "get it" and are making sales happen. Others are making excuses about headwinds and other noise.

Annnnd this is the kind of claim (not everyone wants to become an Oxy and Heroin addict) that will have us soon with a CIA, or worse. Never downplay abuse potential! Embrace that pain is a complex market.
    We can navigate this professionally.
    Be compliant at all times.
Do not be brow beat into presenting off label in any way.
Nucynta and Nucynta ER have not even come close to market potential, and we all know it.

It starts with the training. Glen was tough, yet he was the only one who kept the right focus.
The new hires now are not getting the training they need. At all!
None of us are getting training updates on the real aspects of our complex market.
I don't agree with your statement. I tell my daughter all the time about that word "never". IJS
There is potential. Few of us see it, by evidence of our stock price.
Be a part of the change, or leave, right? I'll do what I can from my little corner. You?

    Get your parachutes ready.

Higgins will want an 'example' to be made for poor sales figures. We didn't even make the REDUCED guidance given to Wall St. Every team has 2-4 people actively looking to leave - not because of the products, but because the feeling here is that we are circling the drain. Ron sounded completely clueless on the call yesterday, and JV continues to have a golden ticket that prevents him from getting fired. Hey Ron, where are the details of the May/June contest? Are you going to do one fucking thing on time, or is every target date 3 weeks after what is printed?
Good products being mismanaged by a home office that can't tie its own shoes. What a fucking joke.

Results are announced Tuesday. Wonder when the cuts will take place. Doesn't make sense for Depomed to continue to not hit numbers and keep expenses at the same level. They will have to make cuts, just a matter of when and how deep. Realistically with flat numbers they could reduce sales reps and call just on pain targets and a handful of high decile PCPs. They could drastically cut sales force without sacrificing growth.

Good point about expenses; when you put together a nonexistent effort to enhance the managed care/Med D coverage for Nucynta, a shabby effort from SalesOps to provide goal/target info in a timely manner, no spark from sales leadership and shaky ground from a company perspective, its not surprising we are struggling.

Oh, and a marketing team that is subpar at best..

I'm so tired of home office blaming the sales force for the problems. It would help if you all got in front of ANY issue instead of always being a day late and a dollar short. It's time you listen to your customers and your sales people and become a proactive company in regulatory and managed care matters for starters. And QUIT changing everything up all the time. I would actually like to see what happens in my territory after I FINALLY get to do my primary care lunches which I scheduled back in February, but don't come due til late summer or early fall. The stock is tanking because the public has no faith in our management and corporate leaders. Anyone with a brain knows that you will not grow in this market without long term strategic thinking from the top. Quit blaming the sales force. The fact that we're basically flat in a contracting and over regulated market whilst losing managed care left and right is basically a miracle.

^^you above are a breath of fresh air. We give a sh-- about whats happening. Its a tough, but totally doable market. We get calls=scripts. The hyper focus on metrics is insulting.
My best day can be a 4 call day. That day that the doc needs a shoulder about reduction in reimbursement for those procedures that were working for their patient. His/her increased cost to do business with lower reimbursement, more intense documentation (we all agree its been sub par for most anyway) and the time it takes for that, and the ever increasing regulation AND the sh-- managed care puts them through to get their patients what they need in medical management. The resultant real conversation of where we fit in their practice and discussion of real patients and real struggles. A return to that office with coffee and "I got ya bro" attitude and any support we can offer.
Those are feel good days. We moved the needle in a productive and positive growth and ethical way.
Then those days with frustrated staff with the "I thought you said it was covered on ___" calls.
Its a good struggle. That gets interrupted by conference calls right when we are on a roll. Here's a thought. Video tape yourself with the information and mandate we watch the video when we can fit it into our day. Quit taking us out of the field for bullsh--
