How hard is it to transfer between clusters?

It depends on the reason, and if your manager and RM support it.

Change sounds good for you...but remember its not all about you....Let's fast forward to where you bring up wanting to change, sure you've made a compelling case

.. What your manager might hear is that you can't stand him/her as a mgr, and /or you think you current cluster is a cluster f*ck that's why you want to change..What your mgr now is thinking.. my Boss is going to ride my as* about what in the world is going on with my reps...I've got forms and paperwork to fill-out now...this is not putting me on anybody's "good" thing radar within company....and then...your manager will be excited about having to back fill your position (more interviewing at some Courtyard for a week!.... You're mangers Boss is also thinking a lot of those same happy thoughts...paperwork, email to justify your transfer etc....ultimately they'd just prefer to punt and comeback with a nah, don't think we can do it right now...

What you'll hear..."I'll be glad to check on that for you! We want to in a position to be most satisfied"

What to expect: 6 weeks later a generic email with your mgr. with 3 paragraphs of corporate speak saying No.

What to hope for:: Transfer may actually happen!

yeah that is what i thought. i hate my manager is the problem. it is probably just better to quit when i find another job and come back later (if ever lol). But they make it sound like getting these jobs is god's special gift to you.

Not easy. You must have your manager's and RM's support.....or they want to dump you on someone else.

I will say, it's a 1000x easier if you're a female. They are afraid to bad mouth you for multiple reasons. Men are open season for bad managers to screw over.

Also, the hiring manager and their RM pretty much know who exactly will get the job before it is ever posted. This includes internal transfers or externals they know from their past. You will likely waste your time and set your self up for being managed out once you take that big step to transfer. It really is a crapshoot here at Pfizer. That "NO JERKS" rule is here for a massive reason. Because there really are so many JERKS in management. They definitely promote their same kind and friends within here. It's an army of passive aggressive insecure smiling monsters that usually fill the managerial ranks.

However, I've transferred and so have many others. Usually to avoid the upcoming yet to be announced RIF. That's how I escaped, but it was brutal as I explained earlier.

Managers in Pharma are usually poster children for The Peter Principle.
