They're not naive. They're doing their job as an internal PR agency slash NNI flag-waver. We used to have many of those. It looks like we're only down to one. Budget cuts/head count reduction may have eliminated the position

Still waiting for just one name. I know that there are the names of 'many people' that this has happened to. I'm just asking for one.

And, I'm not a flag-waiver - I'm just calling bullshit on your post. Prove me wrong.

Suffice it to say that every single person that has been terminated or voluntarily left this company because of a PIP was an extremely poor performer. Hence, the real problem is that our hiring practices and management development programs need revamping.

...or sometimes conditions change (managed care, new competitor, system growth, etc, etc, etc) and people can't/won't do anything differently. So, we may have hired a good performer, but they didn't stay a good performer. I know you like to blame your boss when you're shitty, but sometimes it's your fault.

    Still waiting for one name....

I'd like to follow up on your "conditions change" comment. Let me give you a situation I was in once many years ago. I just won President's Club a year and a half earlier. I didn't just "win" a popularity contest either; I had saved a 2 million dollar account that the EVP mentioned in giving me the award. Then a competitor came out with a drug that was 25% less than mine (keep in mind these drugs were commodities just like insulin is now). I didn't wake up one morning brain dead and forgot how to sell. These were very expensive drugs (a 10cc vial cost over $1200/vial 30 years ago). My accounts were looking at savings of over half a million dollars a year by going with my competitor. That company couldn't wait to show me the door. If you were head of materials management at a major teaching hospital, which drug would you have bought? Thought so.

Let me give you another situation - you didn't work here when that happened to you, so your story doesn't matter a single bit to what someone says is happening right now, right here.

Regardless, if you think insulin is a commodity, then I see why you lost the account. Thanks for a PERFECT example of what I was talking about. Conditions changed, and you didn't.

When Basaglar is preferred on most if not all national formularies and far surpasses Tresiba market share, please come back to share your thoughts. If you're still with Novo.

The above is a good example of how a business environment can change radically in an instant. When things like this happen, not just in Pharma but across all industries, (and they happen more frequently than most realize) it's the responsibility of person who had the job of selling to the lost account to "right the ship". But because fixing it is impossible, most times it's the person charged with fixing it who feels the pain. It isn't personal, it's just business as usual. Sometimes employers are flexible and the guy gets to keep his job and is assigned to a different account. That said, more often than not, they're shown the door simply because the business went away and is never coming back. This is especially true if the sales rep's employer is struggling financially. It really sucks, but that's the reality of selling in today's global economy.

To me, he sounds like he could be a royal asshole of a DBM, doesn't he?

He wont be with Novo when the day arrives where biosim's rule, but neither will most of us unfortunately.

I don't understand. Insulin is a commodity i mean it is sold OTC at the pharmacy NPH , you just have to ask.
