saw an open position in Northeast region. Can someone give me a truthful overview of the company. I am not in Medical, but in Dental. what is pay like, base, car??, overall culture, benefits, etc. Anything real is appreciated. I don't need ex employees trashing it. Thanks.

This really isn't the place to ask for salary, base car etc. ConvaTec is a fantastic company to work for and if you are the right candidate, things will work themselves out.

Does anyone know anything about the open ostomy sales position in New York? Is the territory in good shape, or neglected? The reason for opening, how long vacant? Thank you

The company is great the pay however is horrible. You are stuck with what you started with. Very low base salaries and a crappy commission plan. No pay increases besides the measly and laughable 2% that was offered after 8 Years of Convatec not doing merit increases. It is unacceptable and Convatec is losing exceptional employees because of this. Upper Management needs to figure out where it wise to invest their dollars. Exceptional employees should be at the top of that list and should be compensated accordingly not continue or have a revolving door of reps. Every year we are sold a song and dance of how important for management to see us make money and how this year is different and they really worked the comp plan so it is fair. Every year I buy into it and every year I quickly realize it is a load of crap. Also every year for the past 6 years I have made less money than the previous year. No one is making money. People talk and it seems the majority are unhappy about this and looking for other work.

I would not say that the company is "great", far from it. Products are old and unqualified management, only promoted because they said something nice to their managers and kissed up. Laughable across the industry. If you are looking at the Ostomy division, be very careful as you will be running around like a pharma representatives collecting starter kit names (sorry to insult pharma reps). I strongly believe that the only reason that some people stay around is that it is a VERY EASY job. Sleep in, show up to maybe 3-4 accounts a day and home by 2 pm at the latest, unless you are doing round the clock in-servicing. 4 days in the field and 1 office day per week. Mindless job, not a career. Regarding the pay, the original poster is correct. If you stay around 10 years you might see a gradual increase in your salary by 10K and that is only if you make your numbers and do a great job. You could see higher increases if your RSM has a "sweet spot" for you as they have the power to allocate a set amount of dollars across their region for annual pay increases. If you do not kiss up, good luck with that. It is a good place to start but a poor place to stay. Get in and get some acute experience and then jump ship. ConvaTec is NOT the place to keep your head down or you will realize too late, that the world and your career passed you by. Everyone is out for themselves and that it a fact! You have been warned.

I would agree with the previous thread. Get the experience and move on in 2 years in order to progress in your career.
