Making yourself look stupid. Read this thread, ask your local reps. If you worked for any other company your inbox would be full with stuff to show Attune users. The industry sees this as a big opportunity to take some business from Depuy. Since the published paper companies are now in full attack mode with marketing material. Expect your Surgeons to start seeing lots of it. They don't like getting burned multiple times no matter how good the relationship is.

This and all the commercials on tv now and soon to hit the market from all the lawyers jumping in on this action. They got the green light to spend good money on advertising to Attune patients, there must be blood in the water.

No doc, there are no issues with the Attune baseplate....

    Attune S+

If they filed for a patent in January, how long did they know there was a "non- issue"?

Why is depuy designing a new baseplate for the Attune just a couple years after launching it?

Depuy Attune designing engineer said "this knee system was all about cost" that is why half of the instruments are cheaply made out of plastic. When it came to the implant Depuy opted to not grit blast the tibia like the Sigma FB. This is worse than the Depuy ASR 6 billion dollar lawsuit.

It's funny you should say that about the instruments. They look AWESOME - but the only thing worse than having to look at our Attune tibial failures on MAUDE is having look at the failure rate of those impactors.

Every month I hit up the new MAUDE data for Attune and I can hardly find the tibias thru the hundreds of impactors that broke inside of patients.

I have nothing against plastic but when it breaks it really breaks bad. Could we get some engineers who from Boeing or something who can make stuff that doesn't crash?

Shhhhh, look away.....Nobody will notice as they switch out the baseplates. Ethics isn't taught in sales 101 at Depuy or anywhere else there.

    Is the S+ available yet?

Yeah, it was all about cost...that's why it cost well over 250 million dollars to get the knee off the ground and was by FAR the most money spent on orthopedic implant R&D in Johnson and Johnson history. And get your facts straight, Attune tibia bas a much more roughened surface than Sigma FB.

Roughened? You gonna use that in court lol? That's a lot of R&D to come to the conclusion plastic instruments were a good idea. How many cycles were tested on the knee of various sizes? Seems like some important steps were rushed on this knee to get it to market while satisfying the FDA.

You are totally wrong. The Attune tibia is has a "satin finish". Which means smooth, no grit blasting. This came from the Attune engineer. I have revised a ton of Sigma RPs and a few Attune FB. The Sigma RPs at least have a little grit blasting, but they debond from the cement, too. I have never had to revise a Sigma FB although I know of one coming up.
What is interesting to note is that the ex-Depuy engineer was surprised that the Sigma RPs debond like the Attunes. That is because the Depuy reps do not report the failures to the FDA MAUDE data base like they are supposed too under federal law.
I file the complaints now as a concerned citizen using FDA form 3500A.
