Hi there. My aunt was a former Alza employee for awhile (mfg) prior to JNJ taking over. She passed away unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. I was going through her things as I'm POA, and saw she received a letter from Social Security a few years ago--about the time she applied for SS benefits--and it was a notice of a "Potential Private Pension Benefit". It shows an actual dollar amount, as well as a plan # and ID#. I called JNJ and they couldn't find her in their "system" but they acknowledged it only contains post JNJ info. I called a local Alza office in CA and the very nice HR person had the company open up a "case" on it..but she was told letters like this "go out all the time when often there is no benefit". Having worked for big Pharma myself for quite some times (sales), I am a bit skeptical should they come back and say there was no benefit. Surely there has to be pre-JNJ Alza employees retiring to this day as my aunt was only 69 (and terrible about paperwork). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
