Can anyone tell me anything about this job? I know asking that question on Café Pharma invites a lot of smartass answers, but thought I'd see if anyone is feeling helpful.
I am a tenured employee that has access to corporate strategy, so I will give you an accurate and honest response. This division is likely to be dissolved within the next year. Situate products will be moved over to an existing division. Based on our history of "Last In, First Out" layoffs, I would say you will have little chance of being retained. Even if you are the best manager in the history of the organization. The company is all about who you know vs what you accomplish. Furthermore, the Emperor Has No Clothes here, and if you dare to point it out, you are history - even if you survive the layoffs. If I am wrong and the Situate division does survive, you will NEVER be allowed to advance into a higher ranking division. Situate is the bottom rung and you will stay there. Forever. And they wonder why sales have plummeted the last three years... I would look elsewhere.
The situate division is growing by 20% annually. It's one of the few divisions adding headcount and expansion territories.
The VP of this division is a real piece of work. Former Intuitive Surgical guy who loves the sound of his own voice. Smartest guy in the room at all times.
