All trauma sales representatives a QUOTA COMMISSION SCHEDULE is coming to a smaller paycheck near you! Speak up if you are hearing this already trickle down.

This means case sales and large commissions go away. Sales reps will be rewarded for percentage of growth. Expect an exodus of the W2 Trauma Sales Representatives from Smith&Nephew. Usually in the $800K - $1.5Million sales representatives are affected the most and leave the earliest.

The time is now to find 1099 distribution opportunities and start doing the math on how to make new income with 2-4 companies at most. Target specific surgeons where you can make the biggest impact. Mostly stay away from nail companies (Trigen is still the best) and unilateral exfix (too much reprocessing and highly labor intensive). These type of companies are happy to speak with anyone who is interested and has some relationships. Best advice is making them sell you on the product and strategy. How can they help you sell to your surgeon relationships.

Foot & Ankle Surgeon = Paragon28 (best in class coming with exfix and TAA)
Upper Extremity Surgeon = Miami Device Solutions (JOT MAY) & Catalyst Orthoscience (total shoulder)
Biologics - Vivorte (better than strucsure*) & RTI
    Spine
    - K2M very focused on one or two procedures. (currently I am not adding spine)

Do Not go through recruiter. Go the the company websites directly and contact the sales manager or marketing manager :)

You're excited about ex fix and TAA with paragon28??? This is the funniest post ever. Anyone who's been in the industry longer then a day will know you're full of shit.

This variable comp BS is now going Into effect for SN W2 trauma reps where I work. Majority of reps looking elsewhere and planning an exit.
Why did they make such a stupid decision to mess with the comp of guys who work such hard schedules under high demands?
This is going to cost a lot of good employees and business.

Is S&N still in the trauma business? Haven't seen orange products or reps in my hospitals in years. A radical comp plan change that causes an exodus sounds like one of their typical hairbrained schemes. My guess is their sales haven't grown in 20 years mostly because of self-inflicted wounds. Meanwhile Stryker continues to eat their lunch.

Besides having the stupidest name in the medical industry, Smith & Nephew is no longer relevant across their entire trauma and extremity portfolio. If they shut down tomorrow nobody would miss them. They once had a competitive line but have not moved the ball in years and everyone else has either caught up or passed them. TSF was their last market leading product but now all the bigs have a circular frame of their own with software. Besides, Nuvasive with their limb lengthening nails have obsoleted TSF for many indications and have captured many of the top KOLs who were once in the S&N camp. The French guy has purposely taken the legs out (nice pun, huh?) of trauma and recon since joining the company. Those lines should be sold off while there are still suitors or maybe it's already too late.

Ok smart ass. What in smith and nephews bag would Stryker want or even benefit from??? They don't need snn. Snn is a bottom feeder company now and it's a shame what happened to this once great trauma company.

How about a mini fragment set? Or do you just tell your surgeons the hand cube is actually a minifrag? If titanium plating is so amazing why is the new pelvic set only available in stainless? The plating portfolio for Stryker is total garbage, if it wasn't for the shitty representation S&N has managed to hire for the past 20 years they'd be light years ahead of Stryker.

Not to mention, every Ortho surgeon on the face of earth can look at the intertan and understand why it's a superior CM nail. SHFFT is coming ladies, your 500 gamma consultant surgeons will drop that piece of shit so fast when the cost of readmissions start coming out of their pocket.

blame the sales force is a great excuse. Snn management and leadership should look in the mirror

Bad reps don't hire themselves. They are hired by bad managers. Bad managers are hired by bad leaders incapable of training and directing the bad managers they hired.

This company's doom continues due to good ole boy shit, favoritism, blackmail, and lack of talent. The reps can't sell themselves or sell concepts; instead they are too busy selling shit! Once a new product gets exposed and phased out the reps lose business. factor in getting their asses kicked by the competition along with price wars and what you get is a rep jumping ship and getting a promotion to management instead of getting fired because they suck. Then those losers become shitty managers who get cornholed by new reps who balance sales only because of a backdoor payment and threaten to quit and blackmail burning the bridge. Cycle of shitty reps who buy business, talk big, and sell a lie because they can't sell themselves or sell during adversity. Finally incentive based will expose the loser reps and force them to quit instead of jumping ship to management and repeating the cycle. 1.5-2.0 million dollar reps are all this company has and its laughable....

Bout time someone in this company drains the swamp. This company has a tradition of promoting loser reps. 1.5-2.0 million dollar reps get promoted to managers once they start losing business and they threaten to quit and blackmail to burn the bridge. Now those loser managers hire more loser reps and the cycle is twice as bad and that's why the company is going down the toilet. Finally a true incentivized pay structure that weeds out shitty reps that can't sell and saving the company money since they can't make any. Shitty ass reps buy business and have stupid sales pitches. The true shittiest reps are this that sell you a products benefits and specs lol. All theory but in reality all orthopedics devices do the same shit! A good rep can sell ice to eskimos, rice to asians, and your own shirt off your back.
