That couldn't happen here - they have to get a Merck person to do the needful

You may talk o' decreased service cost,
As Gunga Din handles all those cases,
With the true cost yet revealed,
At his desk poor Din he lazes,
    Closing tickets without action,
    Readin' SOP's, their meaning lost,
Any task is easily done as long as Google has th' answer.

    Now in Injia's sunny clime,
There's no such thing as breaks or overtime,
Whilst poor Din does work for Merck,
    There's three other clients waitin',
    A-servin' Golestani, just an' true,
Dear God if he only knew.

Poor squigy-nosed old idol, Gunga Din,
Don't deserve a physical PC as we're too mean,
Got no trainin' and no clue because he's green,
In fact Noida is the furthest that he's been.

One fine day there was an outage at the client,
Din he was just praying for a little quiet,
    His lack of knowledge he hoped he would not highlight;
All at once the data center did go dark
Din! Din! Din! get this fixed now hollered Clark,
I'm late for work at Seal, don't you see,
Then after lunch I need to change the tech industry,
Mr Clark we will fix it as fast as we can,
On second thoughts we're also responsible for the DR plan,
Of other options we surely are bereft,
Because of you there is no Merck IT left,
So here ends the story of poor old Gunga Din,
Best he can do is unplug and plug it in again.

I guess Merck outsourced the patching of systems to India or Prague huh? 2 weeks with no IT, and nobody has been fired yet? LOL!!!!!

2 Weeks is nothing, many months will pass and we still wont be up and running.

Research still completely down. Why did half of the support personnel not have simplicity on their Merck PC's?

Facilities lost EVERYTHING, most research labs lost EVERYTHING, all the instruments are idle as they work on windows PC's and the ARE NO BACKUPS. They now have to pay vendors to come back in and reinstall custom programs as everything was lost.

Nice work Merck - you saved a few hundred thousand dollars cutting IT to the bone, happy now? LOL!!!!

I did hear one person got fired, was some IT leader who was contacted while on vacation and told not to bother coming back to work?

I don't know why everyone outside IT is complaining.

Merck is teaching you a new skill. How to install Windows.

"Sick person. Seek mental help immediately"
