What happened to AMAG's ethics?

Unethical behavior at the executive management level is rewarded with a slap on the hand at AMAG. There are many high-integrity pharma companies out there. AMAG does NOT seem to be one of them anymore.

Recently AMAG’s medical officer made what few at the company are deeming a ‘mistake’ and most are calling unconscionable. For those few of you at AMAG that need the definition, a mistake is an error in action, calculation, opinion, or judgment caused by poor reasoning, carelessness, insufficient knowledge, etc. Can someone in those few, please explain how someone at C-level, an MD and who owns both clinical and regulatory strategy, does not have the knowledge or reasoning to understand that injecting a subordinate (who apparently volunteered) with a placebo is unethical, careless and just simply wrong? Why can C-level employees at AMAG ‘make mistakes’ such as conducting ‘in-house’ human trials to test theories with no clinical protocol, no informed consent, expired medical license and with a full disregard of regulations, GCPs and human safety still remain employed and in good standing?

 

Why would this be tolerated at any level? I would question whether the outcome would be the same if say someone in sales decided to do the same. How sad.

 

Is this true? I work at AMAG and not sure I want to stay if Bill isn't taking this seriously.

 

This is for real. Apparently folks at the top can get away with anything. If you work there you know there is drug sitting open all over the place so this was bound to happen.

 

the previous reply is incorrect. there are some folks that have display product - not for human consumption/materials. no drugs are available. these are demo units and marked.
