What's the general impression from the Otho reps as to how things are going and how their product bag stacks up. I'm considering coming over to smith and nephew. They seem to have a lot of revision products coming out to address the holes they had for revisions.

You're insane if you join them. Do your homework before you make any decisions. Talk to a lot of people. Don't just read blogs and articles.

I have been with Smith & Nephew on the ortho side for 10 years. I have not been with any other company in this space so I can't make a direct comparison on how things are working for S&N vs. a competitor. If you are coming from a competitor and have solid relationships you can make a very compelling case for those customers to move with you as we have some excellent products. The hip revision side has some excellent products being introduced on the acetabular side. Cones (finally) being introduced on the knee revision side. Redapt stem might be a tough sell if you have somebody that really believes in the modularity of a bi-body style of stem, but a nice straight forward, easy to use system that stays where you put it. The Journey II BCS knee is for real. I have worked with most surgeons in my territory with the Legion system when they have a metal allergy patient and I have never heard a bad word about it from anybody using it. We are in the robot game with Navio. If you were to make a move over you'd have some awesome products to sell. If you need corporate to do your selling and marketing for you than it can be a tough go with a company like S&N that is not going to be as prevalent in the large training grounds guys are coming out of. Whatever you decide best of luck to you.

Same here, been over 10 years, no BS, steady fat paycheck. used to have amazing engineers and innovation team. Now it's all big Pharma running the show up top. Good products, if you have relationships with surgeons they don't mess with you, if they do just mention the offers you get and they disappear. the good ole Memphis days are long gone.

Great Company, I have been with them for 5 years.. I sell both trauma and reconstruction.. I primarily sell and cover trauma with one ASR and my partners cover and sell recon with one ASR.. Great Products, but you have to be a seller.. not many orthopods come out of training trained on smith and nephew, so you have to use Intertan, TSF, Oxinium, and Navio to open doors

A great place to sell and make money but a terrible company. Nothing new in 10 years and wasting money on what little innovation they are trying to accomplish.

But what we have is very good and differentiated from the competition. The ASPs mean we get paid more on the cases we get. And we don't end up sitting in one hospital all day every day playing inventory manager for the hospital. So, if you can be comfortable on the precipice of failure at any given moment, it's not so bad!

This is one of the few companies you can still make 500k if you can sell. The company knows you need to pay reps for growth and since we're not a market leader we invest heavily is product development.

If you just want to show up, cover cases and maybe clear 100k go to Zimmer or JNJ

S&N still sucks. Ortho in Memphis is the worst. Terrible leadership. Haha, Memphis. Yeah, let's base a division out of Memphis... said nobody, ever.

And here comes the chit chat from the entitled Andover morons that turned this company into shit. I have been here long enough to see when and where the good times were had, and nothing good has come from Andover. Grow up, the reps in the field like Memphis, we don't care what you say. Imagine all the innovation that was lost and we will never get again because some idiots didn't want to live in Memphis. this company turned 180 degrees from what it should be and where it was. Sad sad sad.

I love Memphis. Also with fedex being there it's a pretty good place.

Careful, I tried to explain logistics to an idiot pretty high up in Andover and all I heard back was how shitty Memphis is. If SN Memphis was on top of a gold mine they would still say how shitty Memphis is. SN is nothing compared to its glory days, all the new idiots just prepping to sell the company, cook the books, pretend to be elite in Andover.

You did huh? Why are we on backorder and missing cases if Memphis employees are logistics experts?

The management and reps are shit. All managers are actually promoted former reps who began to lose business after their honeymoons of being new and getting a chance at business factored in with under the table payments and bribes. Now you get shitty reps being run by shitty managers hiring more shitty reps and carrying on the tradition of shitty business and a shitty company for allowing this cycle to happen.
