Houston sales position-a fair question and you should always do your due diligence when seeking opportunities. The manager is the reason! Lambastes his people rather than supports and an awful communicator. The company is solid but you can see that the culture of sales comes from the top in San Fransisco, starting with the president. Bloated egos-even in middle management. The Job itself can be exciting and the Compensation is good. Call points are receptive.

7 out of 9 people in the west region have left in the last year.

Actually over 60% of the original Valchor launch team has left. Just ask HR.. oh wait they quit too. That doesn't include other areas that have gone back to PAH.
It doesn't matter that division will be done once you are bought by big pharma ... karma is a bitch
Especially for lying, dishonest, Terrible, manipulating people.

Sounds like our industry in general, unfortunately! Too many shitty managers in this industry. I have friends who are sales people in other industries and they are amazed at the things they hear about our industry and how sales reps are frequently treated. They cannot understand how former President's Club winners can be managed out. They cannot understand how a new manager can come in and immediately target several members of their new team for dismissal simply because they want to bring in some of their "own people". They cannot understand how a new hire, a rep with less than a year on the job, can be placed on a PIP. They cannot understand how a tenured rep with a good reputation can be thrown out like trash. They cannot understand many of the things that routinely occur in our industry where 2 + 2 does not equal 4. A friend of mine was incredulous when I cited numerous examples of this (culled from my over a decade of experience in this industry). He replied, "Well, I guess they are making so much money that they just don't care". I would have to agree. :(

J&J=opportunity. Many divisions at J&J and a strong company in general. If Cluzel and the board give a damn about their people, they will structure the deal to allow ample time for job search if displaced. But,we dont know.

This division is NOT a sinking ship. However, management needs to change their style.most middle management(anyone below President)behave mean spirited and despondent most of the time.

The above post is 99% BS. Where do I start??? 1) There is no such thing as a 'tenured' rep. Leadership dictum is 'what have you done for me lately?' Simply put, if you don't produce and meet your goals we may sack you - we answer to the shareholders !!! ; 2) A new hire with less than 1 year cannot be PIP'd - we give the new hire a min of 30 months to prove themselves; 3) A P Clubber would never be 'managed out'. I personally have made P Club 6 times and know of ZERO P Clubbers who were mistreated or demoted etc - you are just a jellous fartbag !! You probably never made it to the Presidents circle !

Finallyt, general comment - you cannot compare our sales team / techniques to other industries. We are elite and sell high tech products way beyond the brain capability of the typical sales rep. Be proud and celebrate your status in this great industry.

Here's the truth. The Aspire positions require a lot of travel. That takes a toll on people after a while. The manager is not an asshole, he does his job and many people like and respect him. There's a new manager added to this geography. She is green, but knows the business. It remains to be seen what kind of manager she'll be.

Actelion is a great company to work for. If you're working in big pharma, I personally would jump at the opportunity, so long as you're okay with the travel.
