First, why would you even tell your manager that you do real estate in addition to being a rep? That alone gives you the "I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed moniker". Second if you didn't tell your manager here are a few thoughts. If you do real estate in your spare time, as a hobby, it's none of their business. Think of it as a hobby. If you are doing it on Saturday/Sunday and/or maybe in the evening here and there that is your business. When you tell your manager that in addition to your primary job you are doing real estate he/she automatically thinks you are taking calls and doing business from 9-5. Let's face it, Pharma DMs are cynical immature kids that think they are the smartest in the room, they are not. Second, Being a Pharma rep in 2017 is a joke, you have to have a second gig going all the time so you are thinking correctly and protecting yourself, good for you, however when you are w/ the DM just lie to them, remember, they think they are smart and they are just ball lickers it's how they became a DM just tell them how wonderful the job is, know your numbers and blow sunshine up their A$$. Keep doing the real estate just tone it down.

 

Your really not to bright now are you? How about when you have a real estate web site, pictures and a phone number and they call you M-F between 9-5 and you answer? Then what?
