If you are "in" the RTP is a great place, if you are "just an employee" then the uncertainty may plague your mind

Politics run the ship. Performance can upset the boss - so over perform and you may need to go.

Everyday right before my rep lunches I pet my monkey to completion, then serve meatball sandwiches. After which I drive to a park and sleep for three hours and go home, everyday Monday to Friday. I go weeks without seeing anyone for weeks, every month.

Perception it is a dumping ground. The place to be is in a PVU as they get the attention

Depending on your department, you'll have a different experience. There is a tight knit group of people at the RTP site that are on the many different governing boards. The company has taken the stance that our current internal resources are worthless and we need outside recruitment for employees. The strange reality is that external employees have turned over two and three times with the same management in place and the internal employee stigma remains. This same management wants to retain talent but then scares the talent away even after paying dearly to keep the talent. You can do like most new hires and come in, drink the Kool-aide, take the money, then run. Until there is a management change, I fear this will be the reality.

the last few years have been a revolving door for the external talent that joined. There were two clinical project managers who joined from Salix and resigned in under 3 months. Both felt there was a no sense of urgency and were sold on a portfolio. They brought in someone to run the recruitment group and left within a year and the guy who was running risk based monitoring left after about 15 months. The continuous improvement guy who joined stayed about 2 years and he left. People who join from other companies quickly realize it is the land of the walking dead in RTP. It is sad. After 3 years here o have realized it is easy money for the work i do. No stress and no pain

'the land of the walking dead' You're correct. We're not allowed an opinion and we go through the motions and do what we're told. Very sad!

RTP is a good place for retirement. Still not sure why Belgium doesn't sack the place and pull The work back to HQ and monheim

Belgium should sack Slough and Atlanta also.

the money this company wastes on all the sites is crazy. How many people actually still work in RTP

There may be fewer numbers of employees, but more work is done at the RTP site. Maybe corporate will finally do what they have been planning all along and release RTP and Monheim and have all operations overseen by Braine and HQ. Or maybe they won't because we all know UCB has difficulty making any decision.
