Considering an offer in IT, any advice? Worried after hearing no one moving but those needing visas. Would be a replacement for someone not moving.

No one is moving to Tampa since IT at Amgen is dead. Most suspect that Tampa will only be a call center in two years and no real innovation will be occurring anymore. If that proves to be true who wants to be stuck in Tampa looking for a job, most would rather be in the Greater LA area where IT jobs are plentiful.

The clowns who are the leaders are looking to jump ship after their payout. They can't hire anyone because everyone knows the leaders are on 2 year contracts who are not moving their families and will be leaving shortly after. Go ask the leaders if they are moving their families and you will know the answer if you should risk moving your family to get screwed over.

2 of 3 leaders jumped ship these last two weeks. The named site lead has a Finance background so what does that tell you? 5 of 8 people relocating from over 200 have H1B visas looming over their heads so they really have no choice. A really bad PM who lost 80% of his staff due to how he treated them is leading the circus and making all the hiring decisions. The rest of us are just watching the show waiting to see what happens next.

This has become a fantastic show of nitwits, if you have ever seen Office Space then you know what is going on.

The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care anymore.

IT has always been a pass thru group. Every few years a new group comes in to upgrade/fix everything that the former group failed at.

funny how the a Worker bees get fired and yet the ISLT stay. Let's see, maybe the problem isn't the worker bees but rather the idiots on main campus.

I'm considering accepting a position with TCS at the Tampa office, can anyone offer any tips, warnings or helpful information to help me make this decision? I don't know much about the company history or problems in IT over the years. Should I take the job or run?

Everyone is skeptical that Tampa will work. No leaders moving their families. Trouble attracting quality talent in Tampa, pay is too low and you get what you pay for. Moving up means moving to CA. Sound good?

Tampa will be nothing more than a call center with KTLO staff. Give it 6 months and the new CIO will have his own IT group in ATO designing and implementing the new technologies and shaping the future.

Tampa is Great! We probably have a higher per capita of skilled It workers than LA does. Low taxes, no income tax, lots of medical facilities and colleges. Not an Amgen employee, but now thinking of applying.

Please share your per capita source. Tampa has usf/mofitt and that's it. With that being said, amgen is a step up for most residents of Tampa. Plus they don't work past 3 pm.
