Why in your opinion are people leaving the company?

Well we can state the obvious and say they are leaving because this place, a place where I once loved and felt it was an amazing culture, now sucks. Why does it suck you say? ... Well to start we are on a sinking ship with no pipeline to speak of. We have products in Urology/Hospital going generic very soon with nothing to recoup and not a new product in sight to provide job comfort. Maybe its because we are being killed with compliance left and right which is turning a majority of the sales force into robots or making those who are not robots so nervous to say anything so they basically can no longer sell. Maybe its because they are looking at every dollar we spend and having us make decisions that are not always best for the people in the field nor the customer. In fact they are now taking away benefits that once set Astellas apart in the industry to put us on par with everyone else such as now taking away minivans and SUVs to reps and increasing our monthly out of cost amounts we pay for cars to an additional $100/month

People are not making their goals in any division whether Onc, Uro or Hospital, people are barely making any bonus and there is nothing in our horizon to make anyone feel secure that Astellas is gonna offer us a bright future.

I heard apex will solve these issues. Don't know the details, though.

talk is cheap- they need to put some actions behind their words or they will lose many more

Honestly, I don't think they really care. Time and time again, when a good rep left the company, the bashing would begin: "He wasn't really that good....." "She was never that successful here.....", which told me a lot about the management and culture. Until the dysfunction is addressed, nothing will change.

Well spoken thread. Lots of confusion coming from Northbrook. Throughout our short existence Northbrook leadership has made many bad moves. From the lack of indications, failed hostile takeovers, failed acquisitions, failed FDA drug approvals, and the list goes on. Our home office has lacked talented people for many years. Hard to get talented people to move to an area like Chicago. Now what you have over there are people from Pfizer, and hungry people that would do anything for an extra dollar. This is what you get.

I ask myself the question if I trust the current leadership. I use to trust the leadership, but that leadership is long gone to Japan. The Japanese leadership departure from the Americas has been catastrophic. Current Sales leadership is non-existent. You must first work at Northbrook to understand the environment that is being fostered there.

Our local Oncology position has been filled 3 times by 3 different people in one calendar year. I do not understand what is happening there. Nobody from my team would dare to even go for it. The oncology division is failing. Its also bringing down the entire company. I am pulling for those guys & gals.

Oncology has their worries but the real worries are in the pcp arena when Vesicare royalties stop next year. That division will be wiped out.

You can say the same thing about hospital. Not much of a future there either.

Some posts are asking which departments have more viability. I agree with the notion that we are drifting away from hospital sales. That division is lacking focus from the northbrook executives and compliance related matters seem to be the most difficult. Lots of good people here.

Theirs a future in Oncology. I think Astellas wants to stick this one out. I still think it will get worse before it gets better in this division. That could also lead to unforeseen & unwanted calls for action.

PCP & Specialty - this is where it gets interesting. We already know that the growth for the company is coming from Myrbetriq on the PCP side for years to come. PCP is down to about 300 reps and specialty about 100 reps. You still want to remain as a viable salesforce for when and if we in-license a product. The 300 PCP reps still make this an attractive option for someone wanting to sell a product that will garner business from the front lines (PCP, Internists, Family, General, Mid-Levels). Specialty on the other hand has been worked hard through the Urology customer base. Myrbetriq is on auto pilot within this specialty already. We know that Xtandi at the Urology level is a long shot and very little is becoming of that. Its not enough to warrant an additional salesforce of 100 or so to be calling on this customer base with the Astellas Oncology, Pfizer, & Medivation. So with that being said the Specialty salesforce is the odd man out. I hate to say it. Lots of good people there too.
