    Hello,
I'm hoping to get an interview with KCI and was wondering what salary range and benefits are? This is Cafepharma so I'm hope to get at least 1 honest answer to the 20 nonsense ones. Thanks!

Pay is great. Benefits to die for.

Base salary sucks at 60k. Will promise $140k at plan and give you unrealistic quota increases of 35-100% YOY. So more like $100k. Insurance is ok. Car allowance sucks.

The person is spot on with pay and YOY. Don't do it unless you have not other job.

"hoping to get an interview" , I'm sorry.

Once you put the "KCI" black mark on your resume good luck finding another job after it. Not very well respected and doesn't pay great. Ho hum job chasing wound care around. Pussy, smelly wounds, lost vac's, and nursing homes. Pissed off customers because you billed them for the lost vac. Trying to figure out why "your product" didn't take care of the pus filled, smelly wound or didn't stick to the pus filled, smelly wound. The wound care nurses are great that you work with for the most part but the best ones are in the hospital and those in the nursing homes constantly change because of their low pay.

The long time reps you work with have figured it out. They have figured out how to avoid work, do the minimum because they aren't going to get paid very well. Sell some new Vacs, get some new leases. The best reps don't stick around, see all the other threads on pay and management. You will be watched via your phone, car, etc.

Yes I was grateful when it actually worked. Wound care is a tough business, grind it out, and not very respected. KCI has been the market leader. Many of the customers hate them because of past practices. KCI has built barriers and has more feet on the street so any newcomer will have to overcome a competitive barrier to compete. They have figured out the reimbursement and they have sold or leased more VAC's then anyone else which makes it tough for customers to go in another direction. Bottom line, is it's an over-priced vacuum that has a lot of "studies" that aren't really studies and lack true clinical relevance. But it's the best they have in an area that doesn't have a lot of reimbursement focus. So using a vac is doing something and it at least has some reimbursement. A lot of out of pocket cost to the patient though for something that doesn't consistently work. So it's tough to feel good about that. Good luck

Absolutely no way any top kci rep is making $180k. Yes, back in 2012 and earlier, it was lucrative. Average rep making about $105-$115. Top reps now pull close to $135-$140. That's the truth. The YOY growth is so aggressive that your gain for one year will be washed out on the next year. Company is beefing up to be sold or break off parts to sell such as Lifecell. The new president, Andy Eckherdt even said so in a local business paper interview that his background is selling companies. These are facts.

Insurance WAS ok... 2018 individual deductible went from $350 to $500, office visit from $15 to $40 and specialist from $30 to $50. It’s hard to believe that a multi billion dollar company can’t get better rates for their employees than this. Pretty pathetic really.

I was offered a wound vac position in AL in 2008
Base offered was 60, Total "at plan" 140k.
Interesting that in 8 years, nothing has changed much for KCI.
I turned the job offer down, so obviously burned the bridge with you guys.
Have had some regrets as that would have been good entry into device.
Stayed on with current big pharma company in Diabetes. Still make less than 140k for sure!
So it's true that "pharma" reps can get job offers in device.

You made some good points about the company, but the VAC works. Studies are legit. But this company has destroyed what used to be a great position. They have dopes in upper management pushing things like SNAP and Cellutome and got away from the core VAC. Marketing people who don’t know jack, clueless RVPs, and tons of reps who are not given the opportunity to succeed because KCI changes directions on them.

Here is my honest answer. I’m wrapping up year 3 and had the same questions to start. Got a lot of BS when I asked on CP. here is my experience, although different areas of the country can be different.

I’ve done about 130, 115 and should finish this year at 140. This year has been EXCEPTIONAL, so I’m expecting less-than-realistic quotas next year if it’s ‘business as usual’. However, they say they’re looking into the compensation packages and have even hired an outside firm.

Right now I would call the pay and benefits mediocre, but the product is the market leader and not a tough sell. With the exception of advanced wound dressings, the other products are very good and not hard to promote.

With the new CEO and the fact that they’ve contracted ZS associates, re-organizing and gutting the company is an ever-present possibility. However, I’ve been doing this medical sales thing with big companies for the better part of two decades now and changes are reality anywhere.

It’s been a good job where I’m at. I gave no regrets, but at 3 years am always open to other possibilities.

The compensation has not changed over the last 5 years. DM will promise 140 at plan. Problem is the comp plan always works against the new rep. Wonder why our turnover is 20%.

Compensation changed a little bit, but still the spin doctors are at it again! $140 K is possible but very hard and only the top 5% of reps make that.

What do you expect from an upper management team that thinks snap is the answer? Lol. Bunch of idiots who have no idea what they are doing.

KCI changes is SLT every 2-5 years and so the new guy comes in with a fix. Nothing has really changed in slow to market approach KCI has perfected. Any decent sales people have either left or been marginalized by management. Why do we have 18% turnover and a low willingness to recommend working here? Weak leadership and no commitment to the sales team. Pay is the same for the last 10 years for the TMV role. DM’s are clueless on what it takes to sell in the current market. RVP’s suck up to the SVP and execute through threats and intimidation.
