Be kind to each other. Everyone, regardless of their division, tenure, rankings, gender, race, marital status, etc. is worried about their job now. Bring back the humanity to this tough time by being a decent person. It's stressful for all. Make it better by having empathy for others and compassion for yourself. It's not an easy thing to go through and I wish everyone the best.

You little flower, the only people getting screwed are the plus 50 year olds that have been our most successful. DR is a turkey and he has done this with out a lawsuit. LIlly needs a good class action, to quit the crap. It is unquestionably reverse discrimination and DRis leading it via holding onto the young hill people.

Why didn't the folks within the Cardio division/Biosciences ....disbanded in January/April; get the same enhanced retirement benefits the 3,500 are getting today? What a disgrace!

The people really getting screwed are those with less than 80 points who are only eligible for the program because of the extra points. Turn this offer down and then they lay you off in the next 2 years so you won't get a pension. That's probably their goal. They'll assume most with 2-3 years just to get an early retirement won't take it and then them lay you off next year. No retirement. So much for integrity.

Truth. And, since you self identify your race/ethnicity apparently some are suddenly finding they are not Caucasian. Being a racial or ethnic minority keeps you safe. Gender not so much.

DUH - so Q1 2018 profit margin increases. Lilly always does layoffs in Q4.

Sadly one of the key people that caused this problem will not be leaving. Jan Lundberg seems to be covered in the same Teflon that Steve Paul had. Neither has the first idea how to discover a drug but are very good at surrounding themselves with 'yes men' and introducing things like six-sigma to improve R&D productivity. It was always going to be a complete failure and sadly you are now all repeating the 'reward'. Sadly, Lilly has been driven into the ground by very poor R&D leadership, lack of any sort of imagination and a bunch of 'yes men' (sorry women and other diversified groups). The experience in LRL that delivered, drugs all left long ago.

If you think you are going to pass on the three years you will not be with Lilly 1 year from today. This is for people to ponder that received the letter? That is all 50 year olds, white males and 90% of the females. The flower is coming after all the big salaries it is called survival of corporate pharma.

Lilly, by law, has to give the pension an employee earns while employed at Lilly. If Lilly stopped pension now it would be one less benefit for the new cheaper hires. Even if Lilly gets bought, they still owe the pension people earned. There is pension insurance that protects anyone who has earned the money.

Yes, the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation takes care of deadbeat companies that make promises, then go BK. (NOT Burger King-- bankruptcy!). The real question is how long the company can keep cooking the books, then doing mass firings to fill in some gap on the accountants' spreadsheets.

It is WRONG and has to stop.

Your pension is guaranteed, but the payout amount. Look at all the other pensions from big business that cut the benefits of their retirees in half or less. There are no guarantees in life and don't expect the new Lilly to keep your best interests in mind.

this just all sucks. No other way to say it. Any news of Lilly changing their minds on taking out your pension and moving it to another financial vehicle vs waiting for retirement? Tried to do it a while ago but the answer was NO.
