Chicago going direct?

Can anyone confirm that Zimmer is going direct in Chicago?

I know the business is way down there. Apparently the ‘pay to play’ model employed there for 20 years has finally run out, and all the surgeon consultants have run to other companies.

You mean Parrot killer can’t bribe docs with college football tickets like he does to the north? Maybe the private jet is in the shop, waiting for a back ordered part.

Have they announced who will be taking over as GM of the Chicago territory?

How so? Reps vacating, docs switching, or just numbers tanking? Can daddy bail out CA from this one?

Over 20 Zimmer Chicago people have left in the past 6 months including sales reps and operations people.

Surgeons are leaving now that the money has been cut off. 10 years ago there were 30-40 consultants in Chicago. Now there are maybe 3 or 4.

Pathetic organization that is getting what they deserve. If it wasn’t for the Biomet product line there would be nothing keeping Zimmer afloat.

20 people? Wow, that is a sinking ship. Why would operations leave? Did their pay change? Or was the backorder crap too much to deal with day in and out?

Zimmer used to own the Rush group with every surgeon being a Zimmer consultant (100% market share). From what I’ve heard they have less than 10% market share with only a couple consultants remaining.

From what the OP suggested it seems like Zimmer can no longer pay for everyone to use their implants like they have done in the past. No more 40/40 club like in the 90s. (40 joints/$40K) to every fellow coming out of the program.

Now all the fellows come out using an even mix of Depuy/Stryker/SNN/ZB.
