Interesting to watch their army of executives and reps at SNIS hover over the valuable accounts and block the competition from getting face time. Kudos to them, though. After all, who wants a boyfriend that can only afford burgers & fries when there's a sugar daddy that can offer steak & wine?

At Investor Day in June 2016, Geoff Martha mentioned upcoming clinical trials in the pipeline, one being SWIFT Direct ($2.2B world market for Solitaire). Did plans change? I don't see anything listed on clinicaltrials.gov and am wondering when it will launch.

Does anyone have inside info on the Stroke Specialist position in Philly? How is it working for this division? Anything to be on the lookout for before interviewing?

Looking forward to SVIN in NYC next week and hoping the MDT army of ex-pharma sales reps turned "stroke specialists" can "teach" or "drive awareness" about stroke. Such philanthropy! LMAO!

Jealousy is a difficult emotion and I hope someday you get a shot at one of your accounts using Trevo. Until then, go pound sand.

How many “proctors” does one company need for its products? It’s a rhetorical question.

Stryker strikes oil again with DAWN. MDT gets sloppy seconds yet again. Trevo is a superior device.

Brett Wall's perspective on "taking risk" in his talk @ University of Nebraska is energizing. It starts at the 37:50 mark.

The WSJ article on “thrombectomy” illustrated the Trevo device, not the Solitaire. Funny how people buy into defining “stroke disability” based on the very subjective Rankin scale.

But the doctor from Pittsburgh and a casual reader summed the fluffy article up nicely:

The doctor - “A hospital must spend millions of dollars to gear up with special equipment and staff. But thrombectomies are well-reimbursed by Medicare and insurers, and ultimately are more profitable than a lower level of stroke treatment.”

The reader - “I split my year between homes in Boston and Fort Lauderdale and my first thought was oh, well I guess if it happens I hope it's in Boston versus Fort Lauderdale, right? Wrong. According to the chart, I'm twice more likely to get a thrombectomy in FL than MA. Given the quality of medicine in Boston vs. Fort Lauderdale I wonder why the MA rate is half the FL rate? Maybe there are other factors not discussed here. That wouldn't be unusual these days.”

Where does a hospital get all of the money for special equipment and staff? Paid for in various ways by medical device manufacturers who stand to profit? Do the smartest doctors in the world (Boston) know something that the rest of us don’t?

Reality is a difficult concept and I hope some day you get a shot to be first to market at your accounts using Solitaire. Until then, get off of our coattail.
