With layoffs looming at multiple companies what do we do next? Serious replies only please. Please do not suggest real estate. Any other ideas, then please post. Thank you.

Medical device sales. Your skills are transferable and they aren't under the same pricing pressure from regulatory bodies/payers, and public sentiment is much more favorable towards them. Good luck.

There are no layoffs planned at Takeda. Just chicken littles on cafepharma posting about what isn't happening.

You're actually wrong. Although it's nice that Takeda is providing as many options as possible to many who will be affected by the upcoming changes, there are those who will not be so lucky.

I'm just referring to the sales force, as this website is the site for pharmaceutical sales professionals..it says that on the home page. There are no plans to do layoffs in the sales force.

Can you please show me where it says that on the home page? :)

Do your homework before going over to device. Some companies, like Stryker, will manage you out should you experience a couple bad quarters and miss sales goals. The pressure you may feel in Device may be something you are unprepared for coming from Pharma.

There are layoffs in device too. I also have a friend in Software sales who was out of work 3 different times during her career. I’m not sure which industry is safe these days. I personally worked in device for 2 years, and although I didn’t experience the high pressure, I covered a large geographical territory in which I was in hotels every other week, and it wore me out. I guess there are pros and cons to everything.

No truer words were ever spoken! 95% of pharma reps can't make it in device. Most never get interviewed. Those guys work rings around us, and deal with unrelenting pressure. Those that are successful, make tons of money, but it's usually at a price. I have 2 friends that average between $300 and $400+ a year. I know how hard they work, and I want nothing to do with it. You mentioned Stryker, who is 1099, and will fire your ass in a heartbeat if you slip on sales.

If you think you have what it takes just to get interviewed, you had better be able to convince them that pharma sales did not taint you as an employee, by making you lazy, uncreative, and no drive. However, if you do make it, you will not have to deal with the juvenile crap that you deal with in pharma. You are treated like an adult.

Take that as a sign that we will not be having layoffs anytime soon

no way you can feel safe, agree. Good think is if you do get the axe via Layoff they will pay you for 5 plus months depending on your tenure. That’s a lot better than you are gone here is 2 weeks and file for unemployment

trainers are looking for jobs outside of the company. That can’t be a good sign

A Director and Manager at the home office just took different jobs too! Could be a sign or maybe it was found out that they were sleeping together while he was still married.
