Pay close attention to the activity and behavior of your immediate manager and their manager. Notice anything out of character? Notice a pattern of behavior in contrast to years of consistency? These are the signs of what is to come.

Just look around you at all of the changes taking place so suddenly.
For example, freezing pension plans saves AZ money and also allows AZ to show significant increases in operating income on their annual reports to shareholders. There is a cash flow problem. This is one of many more signs to come.

We can only hope for another round of layoffs and, for goodness sakes, maybe be one that's lucky enough to be selected!
Sad state of affairs when it's so bleak you're begging to be let go with a severance. We need to pray that AZ will continue to do/offer the same severance as in the past few instances.
Personally know some in the Merck situation, and they absolutely have a great severance in place, with regards to weeks paid and health benefits.
It would be a spectacular December and early Christmas gift IF AZ continued to offer severances.
But as another previous post suggests, you might as well look really hard now, with a sense of urgency, to find something better.
Bets are on that we'd find something else as competitive as AZ, and if layed off after 6 months, you're severance would probably be better that what you would've received working for AZ 15 -20 years !!!!
A sliver of hope....AZ pay us two weeks per year of service and loyalty to you.

HQ source here. I am trying to help you people for heaven sake. Haven't you been paying attention. AZ isn't Merck. When your profits and revenue declines 3 quarters in a row in spite of using every accounting trick in the book to prop up the numbers, it isn't a pretty place to be. When they announce freezing pension contributions, then you should know that they are running out of options. There is a major restructure coming and it isn't intended to save jobs. Many in middle management and support roles will be let go.
Anyone who qualifies for a legacy pension is first to go. Although they have been reducing these people steadily for some time so their aren't many left. A few in MAPs and Middle Management but these are the next to go.

You could characterize my DSM as "The Bird." Look it up. Associated with Zamperini. Just like "The Bird," this DSM is weak as well as sneaky and heartless. Only capable of drinking the ever changing corporate koolaid in order to to protect a very lucrative older Merck pension. DSM and RSD are partners in crime. They are only functioning in the hopes of getting a buy out OR lasting just another couple of years so they retire with mega-bucks. Both are willing to do whatever necessary with region reps / district reps to make that happen for themselves.

The Bird was a man who was deeply resentful of officers, since he himself did not qualify. In my opinion most managers at AZ are not smart people and deeply resent subordinates who are. They passively and overtly torture people until they learn not to show how smart they are.

There are many many Birds flying around AZ and as the pool of money dries up, these birds are morphing into real vultures.

The bird will have to start eating their own. Watch as they start turning on one another.

the retirement numbers are rarely right immediately. I think it is due to tax calculations. The amount is always adjusted at a few months out. I don't think its a plan. I do know that I am happy to receive extra cash

For future reference, the only number you'll need to know is how many vacation days you have accrued. This will be your severance package. You might be so lucky to get a few weeks, but don't expect AZ to be generous by any means. You people who were let go with severance in June or Dec if 16'. Count yourselves as the lucky ones. You were probably the last layoff class to receive any pay. For the rest of us in limbo, it simply aint gonna happen again.

60 days for WARN Act compliance and accrued vacation. The Uber Useless Upper Management will get 1 to 2 year’s base, bonus, and benefits per their contractual agreements.

This is why I always start collecting off label promotion and Medicaid fraud proof from the first day of training in each company I work for. They can lay me off without a severance if they want to but I will make them wish they hadn't made that mistake. I don't even care about a whistleblower lawsuit at this point or I would have already brought a Qui Tam. I will be on the phone with Beltsville, MD the minute I am told no severance just to make them pay someone. Treat people like trash and you will get it back 10 fold.

Right there with you. Pharma Guideline violations up why wazzu by pod members, DSM, and others. All documented on text, email, and even recorded conversations on the phone and in person.

I have our CBD recorded in a direct violation. Of course she will claim she was joking but those of us that were there can attest to the truth.

Countless violations with regard to targeting Medicare and Medicaid patients. Initiatives and contests to increase Medicare market share. CV is using a sales aid and leading with $1.50/day discussions. The reps leading with these discussions in one of my hospitals are in the process of being reported by the CMO. Reps guilty of selling free trial offers followed by pushing 90 day scripts to be sent to Pharmacy upon discharge. CV leaders should be ashamed of themselves. Being unethical doesn’t go unrewarded these days.

Sad to say, those putting ethics aside get rewarded. Leadership is covered as long as you complete your ethics training.

Wait a minute. Why is it wrong to target Medicare and Medicaid? They are patients too and in some cases takes quite large rebates/ discounts to get on these formularies. If the conversation follows the PI and brand messaging, I don't see an issue. Please clarify. Thanks.
