We won't win on appeal. Even if the Mohawk deal was technically legal, the implications are way too broad for the law to allow it.

Think about all the Pharma (and other industries) that will be transferring their patents to Indian Tribes!

I get that the intellectual property laws do not favor the patent holders, but it's not like we don't know how long the branded drug will be protected for...this is common knowledge before the drug even hits the market.

They promised quick cuts at the last business update, which was on Nov 1. Quick doesn't mean days, it means weeks and we're still well within the time frame to be considered quick cuts. It will be by the end of the year and I agree that it will start before this week is over...there are a lot of indicators already happening.

Every now and then I come back to this site to see "what's the buzz" at dear old Forest/Actavis/Allergan. And for the past few years it's all the same: MORE layoffs; a CEO who appears to be more interested in looking good on TV than running a company; challenge after challenge without effective solution; and a culture of "shut up and do as told or you are the next to go." I had many friends at this company and gave it the best years of my career, but most of that was pre-BS. Words cannot express how glad I am that I don't have to live with this horrendous culture - and the stress it causes so many good people - any longer. Best of luck to all.

You make it sound like it's much different than the pharma industry as a whole. Ignoring Merck's announcement to lay off 1,800 sales associates just over a month ago, Teva laying off 10,000 globally, Eli Lilly, Novartis, and Endo also announced layoffs this year...

You're only a year or two away from your next layoff...remember I said it and I don't even know where you work now.

Spoken like someone who doesn't even know why there is an appeal. First off, I used to work at legacy AGN in the days working on Restasis. Yes, I'm a R&D person. The reason why the appeal may very well happen is cause the judge said the patents are obvious. Too whom? THis is a formulation of Cyclosporine which is NOT obvious. No one had been able to do it until our patent was made public. AND, the supreme court split on their opinions of the IPR process is also added ammunition that any appeals judge will have to consider. So thinking this appeal is dead is not a very smart conclusion.

MRK has a massive layoff but it was only one round. Not five different rounds of layoffs in 40 months. Yes, job security in the industry no longer exists but frankly that's always been the case. What's different is how things are handled: the layoff drama never ends here, nor do the "stay focused" messages from upper management. Why don't they focus on improving the environment and culture here. Hey BS: an effective culture takes a lot more than a bold motto. Just saying....

This guy gets it. I though I was fed up with the last round of layoffs. This is too much. F#ck being bold.

Now over a month since the cuts were broadcast to the markets.
They should have already been planned and ready to execute especially after the BOLD claim that the cuts would be quick and done by his amazing team!

The only cuts we have seen so far is to the share value and company productivity!

Cute, I heard it was last month, and last week and this week and before the end of this week and maybe Christmas. Stop the speculation it will happen when it happens now go find another job while you can still use the company car.

What a shit-show! I'm so glad I was laid off in the 2014-15 rounds. The severance package was actually decent back then. I feel sad for the suckers who stuck around believing they would be the future of this company. BS is known for his BS but he's not stupid. The land is probably worth more than anything the company can "put out" (pun intended). Most of the "drugs" they put out can probably be made using store bought ingredients for those of you who actually read the label. Expect a big fancy high rise or shopping mall where AGN sits in 5-8 years from now

Agreed. I was laid-off in 2017 and it was a very nice severance. I wonder if those laid off in 2018 got a similar package?
