I sold all my options as well. It might be easy to financially engineer earnings per share by cutting expenses i.e. employees but revenues will continue to fall as far as the eye can see. Most Merck drugs are in negative revenue mode- meaning continued fall in income going forward. Merck has only one option and that is to continue to cut employees to continue the fantasy.

Where did Merck go wrong? Merck fell from the best R&D pharma to the worst. Management wanted to pump their option price to make a boat load of money without regard to the company's future. Options to management can be detrimental to a company's future as has been demonstrated in Merck's case.

So what is Merck doing now? They are overpaying for a hep c drug that is entering a field of price commodity i.e. gilead and abbey. They overpaid 2 to 3 billion for a company with an antibiotic. It is a sad cycle Merck is in.

This drug is going nowhere but down. There aren't enough reps left to cut to change this company's future. It's in trouble. Look around you, for God's sake. You don't see the signs of panic everywhere? Every move me make is panic-driven.

This is a fair assessment. It's also interesting to note that the senior managers are paying themselves millions of dollars to actively destroy this company. They have no reason to panic. They're the last to go and will have tens of millions to enjoy. Bastards.

Well it took me 4 years to find out who the famous OP is who was # 1 in every parameter known to man or woman..it is AB in Florida...only one person I thought was # 1 in ALL EIGHT parameters we had numbers on: current month Volume & MS, current 3 months volume & MS, current 6 months volume & MS and current year volume & MS..reason I know- I still had some reports I typed out & kept a few year's worth in case I needed it for proof of my accomplishments for another job..I remember the first 6 months of Nuva Ring and the top 8-9 reps were only at 2.0-2.4 market share and AB was at 6.2!!!..his knowledge of progestins and the competition was way past all of us..I remember him speaking in a regional breakout at a POA and my district & I were all in awe of his command of information on progestins, androgenic activity, selectivity, etc..he even made up a "table of selective progestins" and labeled each product in a box that contained parameters like "high progestational , low androgenic" , or low progestational & high androgenic", or low progestational & low androgenic" boxes in a square and then put all the products in birth control in their respective box..he then went over each box & gave each product some evidence of why it is there...powerful lecture..I felt like I was in a Women's Healthcare Symposium at a major hospital...I began using this table in the field and my numbers began to go up..we all now had something to use..no it wasn't "officially" sponsored by Organon, but many of us used it...each time I saw AB at a POA I would say hi and tried to get info from him, or the latest on birth control news..in 2003 when he led the country in everything, I remember he got royally screwed from Organon when they introduced a pain killer called AVINZA, which ruined Nuva Ring for life. They made AVINZA 60% of the bonus and NR was 40% and since some people ( like AB) did not have a huge pain doctors area, those people suffered & got fucked for bonus & Rep Of The Year stuff..AB should've won going away..he told me once that he & his DM figured when he left in 2010 than Organon owed him about $60,000 in bonus if not for Avinza...I'm glad he said he's doing fine...I bow to thee :)

OP here and congrats to last post before this, you are correct...I worked for a bit selling TAMIFLU in contract sales..sucked- you get paid $25 for only a signature..most of their reps were also let go by big Pharma and were older like me...seasonal job, too..worked mostly Oct- March during Flu season..now I am 65, semi-retired and have a driving service, driving mostly elderly ladies to doctor appts., grocery store, pharmacy, etc...easy job..work when I want..all cash..NO ride alongs, no conference calls, no business plans, no POA's..getting social security now & medicare..wife still works FT and makes pretty good $$...it's been EIGHT YEARS now since Merck let 2000 of us go....so life is good after Merck..FYI- Medicare is very $$..more than what I was paying at Merck,SP, & Organon..save your money for your future , you will need it!!! BTW, yes, I still have all the standings, rankings on my PC, as well as on paper, AND on a disc..you never know when you will need it..but I suppose I never will..I have a cool t-shirt I wear sometimes..it says on the front, "RETIRED"..then below it, it says "have fun at work tomorrow" :);)
