Why is the comp for a sales rep so low? Barely 6 figures at plan is less than pharma. I can go work in a factory for same comp as my ASR income and a promotion to Sales Rep is not exciting as I see pharma jobs at higher comp. Also, most other intro device opportunities are minimum $120-130. I know a Genzyme rep and a Fidia rep that have salaries above 100 grand plus they earn bonuses. Isn't Exogen a very profitable product? Pay should be higher. I hope John N realizes how sucky the comp plan is. It is also a challenge to get a promotion and with such low starting comp for an ASR and a sales rep, it will always be a challenge to keep a sales force stabile.

With someone as knowledgeable and optimistic as yourself it’s a wonder you haven’t been promoted. Everyone is as suspended as you are.

It's simple. Many ASRs come in with little to no sales experience and move in a Bioventus sales role within a year. No pharma company pays over 100K with 1+ year of sales experience, especially ASR experience. It's an insult to experienced sales representatives with numerous years. The real argument is why ASR turned sales reps make as much as those with a few years of experience (with same title). Gain some experience and prove your worth.

Agree that comp needs to be addressed. Q2 will see if JN heard us. However you must have no pharma experience to know the pharma pay is heavy salary with little bonus pay. A good year is an extra $30k paid over 4 quarters. It’s so capped it’s ridiculous. $130k is most likely the best you will ever do in pharma and that’s with years of experience at a big name company (rarely year 1-3). Biotech may earn you more, but if you think selling HA is hard then you won’t make it in Biotech.
If you want a cushion gig subject to layoffs every 6 months and you can’t handle the medical sales speed then leave for pharma. Join your friends. Btw, Sanofi may have options for you since the 50% of reps that still have jobs are looking. Good luck!

The comp plan is low because the company and its leadership don't value you and don't care if you stay or go. They will fill your spot with another pharma rep in the snap of a finger. There are few opportunities to move up because once you start earning real money, they want you out. They can then replace you with an ASR at half your compensation. Right GM?

That just means you're next on their target list. They don't need to pay someone $235k when they can put 2 associates in your territory for 70 k each. They have more feet on the ground and save 95k.

Defies logic. That's why the regions with the least experience has the highest turnover and lowest region performance. Look at consistent top regions. There is a trend. Its called tenure.

That's what several ex reps said who made over 200K. Enjoy it while it lasts.

There’s truth to both of you unfortunately.
$235k is possible but rare, congrats on the year you had. Must have blow out Exogen or G3 or be one of the very very few that hit both. Here’s to hoping more of us can have years like this moving forward.

Being cheap at Bioventus hasn't produced growth. Notice there are more Senior Sales Reps hired as of late versus just Sales Rep. The talent pool is lower to select from when a Sales Rep post is placed.

The only reason I know that the $235,000 poster is lying is that if it were true, that person just told BV that they post on cafepharma. HR need only search to see who made that amount and, tada, you are the next one ushered out. Not a smart thing to do. But BV hasn't hired brains in quite a while. I keep my job by not raising flags. I stopped caring about BV , when they stopped caring about us.

not sure why sharing a great years income would get me in trouble. If being honest is a crime-guilty as charged. Trying to debunk you and the other idiots on these threads who probably don’t work here any longer and are clueless

These type of reps are not being shown to the door as you say, actually quite the opposite. They are being celebrated and used in other side projects you have no exposure to. Matter of fact you never have known of them because you skate by as if that’s the safe route. If these reps do it 2-3 years in a row they will most likely will be your new manager next year.
