The OP did not even do an online search before starting the rumor. Are all the people with the first name John related in this country or, the same person?

    #2, 3, and 4 are all correct.
I've been to Japan and the word "Daiichi" is very commonly used in a variety of commerce.
There is a tour bus company in Japan called "Daiichi", and NO it is NOT owned by DSI.
"First" or "Number One" is the best translation to English.
"ichi" = 1 (one) "dai" prefix = superlative
Daiichi Sankyo has no involvement with nuclear power whatsoever.
Otherwise Bill McLean or Rick Parrish would have told us so.
Fukushima Daiichi Reactor = Fukushima #1 Reactor
If DSI stock is tumbling, it's because Japan, in general, is on it's heels from quake/tsunami.
