How extensive and what type of test?

you shouldn't be working there if you need to ask.

    Nice, unhelpful response.

To the person who asked--I recently had to take a drug test for another CRO. The lab conducting the screening had no idea if it was a 5 or 10 panel drug test. The authorization form I filled out stated the screening was "testing for use of illegal drugs". I believe it was standard 5 panel. If you take the 10 panel, they will test for legal prescription drugs. As long as you have a prescription and can provide (when/i Medical officer calls you), you will pass.

Background is standard criminal/credit type checks.

I lived in another state and have a medical rx for mj. So I am concerned. I am good person and a hard worker. I am not irresponsible. I moved and quit for now but am wondering about the test used. I can pass a urine screen but not likely hair.

I have not heard of any CRO taking hair samples. They use a urine sample. But good thing you did stop. Even in states that have legalized mj, that is one substance, prescription or not, they do not want to see and will turn a candidate down. Good luck.

OP obviously has something to hide with the question by asking the question. Why assist someone like this when there are credible folks out there that have nothing to hide.

I don't think that anyone who asks the question necessarily has something to hide. They could have a legal prescription for a controlled substance and want to understand the process.

Even in those states where MJ is legal
It is still illegal under federal law.
Large companies must have 1 policy for the whole company and usually decide to adher to federal law.

So most of the time if you test positive for THC you will not be hired or if it is a random drug test, you will have to go to rehab or be terminated.

My background check has now passed the eight day mark and I was just told it takes two weeks. What is the deal? That is extreme. I have no idea of employment dates that go back 14 years. I made them up. Now, I am freaking out. No, never had any gaps in employment but I have a feeling some start and end dates from years ago are off. . . . probably five employers back.

Had my 2 in person interviews last Thursday. 1 week later, which is when they said someone would contact me about the status of the position, but giving it a few more days until I inquire about the position since it was just Easter and the manager mentioned people being out of the office the Friday and Monday after my interview...

SO...my question is...did anyone else receive the background check, drug test, covance app, and benefits in the email BEFORE your interview and BEFORE the official job offer? Because that's what happened to me and I was very confused since everyone I asked said that that process usually happens AFTER you get a job offer. I'm hoping this is a good thing for me? Unless Covance just does this with everyone now, but I've checked Medzilla, Glassdoor, Cafepharma...and couldn't find anyone who also experienced this. It's driving me crazy!!! Really wish I didn't get sent that stuff until I have an official offer from Covance. Hoping I get the job next week!

So, did you end up getting the job? Same thing happened to me with regards to receiving the paperwork beforehand.

Well for one because it's weed and your legal system allows police to murder unarmed citizens on the streets with impunity fully demonstrating that the law and morality have nothing at all to do with one another. Considered medicinal for thousands of years in numerous societies, the US began prohibition in 1911 with all drug legislation being terribly radicalized. Add to that pharma's cockblocking and manipulation via think tank legislation and lobbying efforts against research, the for profit corporate prison industry's need for more and more bodies to incarcerate, and a post-industrial society's penchant for using the legal, political and economic system to "manage" a surplus population no longer required by the Wall Street/donor/"job creator" class to generate revenue, the criminalization of weed is scam on it's way to a well deserved death.

Covance employee, ~3 years, shabby/shitty outfit to work for, see if you can do better. Drug testing was urine, through LabCore, who owns Covance now.

AFTER offer, never gave anyone anything beforehand, your info will be sold and traded, you're nothing but a commodity in america; your info is not yours. They may have gone to this nonsense since I went through it. And hey, now they like to line you up for blood draws like cattle for annual "wellness screenings". I don't, they can have my doctor's test results. But you know this goes to their health insurance partners. And as soon as it passes, your employer will want your genetic info as well. Fweedumb in america.

A coworker left to go to Patheon, he had a hair test.
