Does this position require you to be on call at all? How is this division? What's the overall take on the job?

Management is a joke, marketing is useless. It all comes down to you and what you can do. Good products and decent money if YOU can do it.

We need a leader not a political A** kisser. The sales force is begging for leadership not the useless regional managers we have. Someone needs to take charge and lead us, give us direction that is more than the product of the month. Give us faith that we at least think you have a clue about the business. You in the Ivory Jacksonville tower are so out of touch with the field it is pathetic. To make decisions based on our 10 year old assumptions is embarrassing. Step up and and do your job or I hope you are gone and some comes in and does it right. I am tired of listening to your nonsense.

Excellent post as I totally agree. Marketing and Management are so out of touch with reality. This job has gone so far down hill from what it was a couple years ago it is sad to see the decline as we once had something special. We would have to clean out the useless management to get it back, so sad.

Is all management and marketing bad at medical device companies? Is the ENT culture so twisted that they are afraid to know what good leadership is or how desperately we are lacking it. Marketing needs to step up their game as the word useless cannot begin to even describe their existence.

I worked for this division for a long time, I would seriously look at the comp plan HARD and understand that you are not going to make a lot of money like the good ole days! Great company, great benefits but the comp plan always favors the company NOT the REP!

At the end of the day you need to ask yourself what do you want in your company? Branding, environment, management, security etc......... I honestly think that the new structure in this company is absolutely terrible!

Finally, this company is turning into another GE Company!!!!

This division is dying. Nothing innovative in the past 10 years. They own the ENT OR space because of three products: Navigation, Sinus power and Nerve monitoring. Everything else is non-technology driven (aka non Core) and the company thinks it doesn't matter (so they don't market it or pay reps for selling it) even though it represents substantial volume. So it erodes every year as they try to motivate reps to focus on the big 3, which are all now in their 2nd or 3rd generation of retread-relaunch with no real innovation. High tenure reps have 90%+ market share and cannot grow enough by farming, and have little opportunity to hunt, so they are beginning to leave. They all hope for a new capital platform with a disposable stream (or a new innovative upgrade) which has so far been unobtainable through invention or acquisition. They can't even launch a sinus pack or a suction. Mother Medtronic won't put any money into ENT because the Sx reimbursement and ROI is just not as attractive as other business sectors. It's a shame. ENT has robotics, implantable devices and other innovation, but not from Medtronic. ENT will continue to shrink in significance until the cash cow runs out of milk, then MN will gaze on a sick starved cow and try to see if they can consume or sell the beef before it dies completely. Then they will say new competition and reimbursement changed our positive. The truth is, division mergers with sexy-er platforms stole ENTs seat at the table.
