Ok, I'll start. What do the former Cubist, Optimer, Medicines people think about the sales opportunities here?
If you are interviewing, keep us in the loop

who’s interviewing? Is this a good opportunity? Just read q4 financial reporting. Will this one product compete in this market? Thoughts? Good company?

I know they are only pulling from the antiinfective market for the most part. They are doing interviews now. Some people have already received offers. Does anyone know anything about Hiring managers?

This will be the same as all the rest of the antibiotic startup's. They will sell the company asap to the highest bidder.

It does seem like a good opportunity. I believe start date is mid May. And yes, EVERY start up has the risk of being bought. It is why you want to get a lot of stock options. I even had a year severance built into my offer when I was part of a start up. I like start ups!

Is this a good opportunity? Will people be kept on if it's purchased .. Seems like they are committed to long term science, research. And, perhaps buying another product to promote.

Beware! As an aminoglycoside this drug will require daily monitoring with a new test that the hospitals also have to buy from Fisher Scientific. Won’t be an easy sell, by any stretch of the imagination...

does it really require monitoring? I heard it won’t.

You’re not working in anti-infectives , yes it will require monitoring and look at the website; they signed an agreement with Thermo Fisher to sell the testing.

They have a great pipeline and there is a need for this type of antibiotic. The testing will suck but it won’t be that big of an obstacle. Anyone know anything about hiring managers?

Plazomycin will almost exclusively be used for CRE. Do yourself a favor and ask your hospital microbiologist how many cases of CRE they see per month. Better yet, look on the CDC website. In 2017 there were a total of 379 cases reported of CRE. Allergan, Melinta, and Achaogen will be fighting for a a handful of patients per month. Achaogen selling an aminoglycoside that requires monitoring against two other CRE drugs that are already on the market that do not require monitoring will be an uphill battle. Melinta wins this fight.

It’s a good opportunity but expect to work your ass off. And yes, start ups get sold.

That's what they all say! No guarantees anywhere. Stay where you are and it may/may not work out, go to Achaogen and it may/may not work out. Who the hell knows anymore? Just don't start bitching in 3-6 when reality sets in and things are not going the way you had hoped. The intention on everyone's part is that is will be great but............
