Just got a verbal offer from HR last night. Today the admin from J&J HR sent me a release form to sign from "Yale Associates" to do a background check.

I looked at the Yale Associates website and freaked when I saw a sample report: http://www.yaleassociates.com/ (then click on sample reports on the left)

In the application, I overestimated by annual salary by $2500.

Does anyone know what the background check involves? How do the people from Yale associates get information regarding salary history?

How do they get this info, I thought all the inforamation a company can give is dates of employment.

$2500 won't kill you. Don't stress it too much, but you better be honest about criminal history and employment history. Making a mistake on salary (that amount anyway) should not be a big deal.

They can call your work and speak with your supervisor (HR would simply verify your employment, but a supervisor can give them detail). Many companies will not give the information out, but if Yale makes it sound like they are doing a background check rather than simple employment verification, you would be amazed and how much information they can get.

As long as you did not flat-out lie on the application, then don't stress it. ....hell, tell them you included your tax returns that year into your salary if they question you on it.

I served 15 years for armed robbery several years ago and am now a VP of Sales and Marketing so not to worry. JNJ does not sweat the small stuff on things like that.

As CEO, Weldon robs J&J blind everyday. The Board doesn't sweat the small stuff.

Whoa! If they still hire you after you lied on your application, when time comes to fire you, they will use this to deny you any recourse. Going forward, don't lie on your job application - it is unethical & illegal

Getting arrested is neither illegal, immoral, unethical nor something you need to declare - you may have been totally innocent. It's what you have been convicted of that matters.

I think it is within 5 or 7 years. I would google search “how long does a dui stay on record in CA” it may not even legally show up. Good luck.
