It isn't fair. I have been at AZ 25 years and won't make the cutoff because of age. Others have been here for only 10-15 years but made it due to age. The company is not concerned with being fair. their only concern is cutting expenses - like budgets, benefits....it is what it is. I will say this, they can keep cutting expenses all they want, but it won't make up for the lack of incompetence that brought AZ to this point. Failed drug trial after the next, unprepared for the ultimate patent cliff, bad business decisions. In the end it will catch up to all of us, including the idiots in charge of this charade.

Don;t lose any sleep over this. AZ cut the retiree insurance program years ago and reduced it to a total life time maximum of $25K. And for that you pay more and have a higher deductible than virtually any other private supplemental plan available on the open market. Oh, and AZ will cancel your insurance the day that you meet your maximum leaving you uninsured and possibly responsible of the remainder of a huge medical bill. That is the company you work for. They don't give two shits about you and your future. It is all about dollars and never about people.

Many of us that have been here 20+ years, were looking forward to early retirement with health insurance when we hit 55. I really didn't care too much about the $25k part! Early retirement is off the table now

The goal of AZ is to get you to leave voluntarily before you reach age 55. If you fail to pick up on their signals then they will resort to making your life a living hell or actually terminating you if they can catch you violating one of their volumes of corporate policies. The reality is that you have a target on your back once you reach 55.

They will find new and sometimes subtle ways to continue cutting away at ALL benefits to reduce expenses. The old timers don’t have a chance at what was..and the rest of us should plan for a different future.

Remember the hype we were sold about the blockbuster capability of our Alzheimer compound and joint efforts with Lilly? Just another fuck up as we learn today that the phase III trials have been discontinued because end points were not met. Everything this company touches turns to shit. I can only imagine the conversations going on at Eli Lilly Hq today.
