The process has been well on its way by the time everyone gets the message on the 27th. EVERY SINGLE DM has been told which reps are affected and they have been told to lie and say they won’t know until the evening before. Genentech’s new head count has been calculated, the separation packages prepared, and territories realigned. This is how bad Genentech is and how much they could care less.
Your DM job would be affected legally should he/she reveal. They have a family to feed and will be affected financially should they risk doing so.
I know it's a difficult time, but don't spread unnecessary conspiracy theories. Managers have no clue. For legal reasons, they aren't supposed to know until the day of (because their own jobs may or may not be in tact). The company can't afford to take on that level of risk by informing the managers and then just trusting them to "keep it a secret" even if they wanted to.
Sorry but you are mistaken. Managers were in San Francisco last week looking at the final maps. It doesn’t take much intellect to see a territory missing on the map. It is inexcusable that Genentech is treating their employees in such a hostile way. The anxiety and stress they are exerting is either intentional, or irresponsible. Just tell those displaced who they are so they can move on with their lives. Creating such a hostile work environment is not neccessary, yet it is being created. Lastly for those displaced and some moved to other positions. Transformation may actually take out your new position as well, so you may end up going through this with the next franchise. If everyone only knew the truth!!! You do realize many reps have specifically been told they are safe. This is a fact. Some will get new territories. Some will get new DM’s. One will become a DM. It’s sickening what goes on here and the absolute favoritism that is displayed. People are fooling themselves if they believe they don’t know. Again, it is a fact that many of your coworkers have been given the thumbs up that they are more than fine.
Word to the wise....GNE is going to keep downsizing and every franchise will be affected at some point. It's hard to stomach after leaving successful jobs to come here but start looking for another home. GNE is becoming a very unstable place with the worst yet to come. Even if the MS franchise continues to prosper the coming losses in oncology can never be regained. Really bad deal you folks got but start digging the tunnel now. Thanks for making Ocre such a success for the rest of us. BTW - I'm in another franchise and giving my notice next week. Godspeed to all and RIP Genentech.
